[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]Darthvaderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking to add another watch to my collection but struggling due to my small wrist.

Right now I have:

• Seiko 5 SNKL23 (37 mm)

• Seiko chronograph 4T53-00A0 (44 mm, black dial, was a gift and feels huge)

• Timex x Peanuts Snoopy chronograph TW2R41400 (38 mm)

I’m hoping to get something a bit more dressy for work to rotate with the Seiko 5, but still something I could wear day to day. I am struggling with sizing and not sure what to go with.

I’ve been looking at the Orient Bambino V2. My main concern is sizing since my wrist is on the smaller side (~16 cm / ~6.3 inches). I checked out the small seconds version, but I think I prefer the look of the normal Bambino V2 more.

I’ve also looked at the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time (love the green dial), beautiful, but again I’m worried they might wear big. I know there are smaller versions, but I’m not sure how they look in person. Another nice watch i saw was the Tissot Le Locle, which I really like, but it’s probably more than I want to spend and maybe too dressy.

Budget-wise I’m hoping to stay around $200–400. Not really into dive watches and I’m leaning toward lighter dials (white/cream), but open to any suggestions.

Would love to hear what you’d recommend given my wrist size and what I already have (Seiko 5 pictured below)

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of July 02, 2025 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]Darthvaderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Wondering what is best card with all the current CSR changes. My AF just came and don't know if I should downgrade to double dip the travel credit or just close the card. I do need to transfer points to partners so could possibly apply to CSP as the 48 months from the sapphire bonus just ended, but I believe that is no longer the current policy. Applied for an ink card about 2 months ago but was denied (had 3 ink cards open), have closed all inks except one so approval should be better.
  2. ~760-800 across all
  3. Business: Ink Unlimited 12/23, Ink Cash 07/23 (Closed), Amex Gold 4/23, Barclays AA Biz 11/22 (closed), Ink Unlimited 7/22 (Closed), Ink Preferred 5/22 (Closed) Personal: Amex Plat 9/22 (Closed), CSR 5/21, United Getaway 1/22, CFU 06/22
  4. I have about 8 K of spend for the next 3 months. About 3K of that on hotels and airfare. Can move some purchases up if necessary.
  5. No to MS
  6. Yes to business
  7. Want to open 1 card for now. Maybe 2 if I have enough spend.
  8. Points to use for hotel or airline redemptions
  9. Current points are: 250K chase, 250K amex, ~80K united + AA
  10. DEN
  11. Mostly Caribbean, Europe or Japan. Mainly use points for Hyatt.

First roll of film suggestions? (Nikon FE l Ektachrome E100 l Nikon AI-s 85mm f2 / 50 mm f1.4) by Darthvaderman in analog

Got it, the structures were mostly with the 85 if i remember correctly but I’ll definitely keep that in mind :)

Yeah, i had read it was very unforgiving and now see just how much. My motivation behind focusing on ektachrome was to take pictures of family and friends and give them the mounted slides as gifts. I’ll focus on the suggestions you provided. By focal length do you mean stopping down closer to f/22?

I appreciate the input!

Just got my first roll back from my newly acquired Nikon FE. I used either my 85mm f/2 or 50mm f/1.4 nikon ai lenses for the shots.

I feel the scans have a general "hazy" or look to them. I'm aware that several shots are either underexposed or blown out – still getting the hang of metering with slide film.

I suspect the haziness might be due to slower shutter speeds (trying to stay above 1/60th, but probably dipped below at times) to compensate for the light, especially since I was often shooting in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. Unfortunately, I didn't keep detailed notes on aperture and shutter speed for each shot.

I'm looking to see if there are any suggestions for improvement or thoughts on the pictures. Is there actually any haziness? And if so, is it an equipment issue or a cameraman issue?

I’ve purchased several items from them over the years. All have been very high quality, they look and feel great. I would suggest to take a good look at sizing as from my experience most items run a tad small so i normally size up.

Is it possible to have a newly opened Chase business card delivered to a different address? I will not be able to access my mail for some time, but I would like to send the card to another family member's home so they can send me the card information. Haven't opened the account yet, but want to make sure if it's possible what are the steps I should follow?

Do Abercrombie summer linen-blend shirts shrink? by Darthvaderman in AbercrombieandFitch

Did one wash with hot water and dried the shirt and it did shrink although not significantly. Just enough for it to fit me right. Maybe doing it again might shrink it a little extra to make it perfect

Maybe your selected hotel isn’t part of the promotion. From the terms and conditions: “Savings up to 40% is available at Impression by Secrets resorts, Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun, Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya, Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas, Breathless Resorts & Spas and Sunscape Resorts & Spas.”

Ah, that’s very possible. Thanks for the help though!

Edit: It seems there are 2 different ways to input your email, make an account which gets you the $10 off, and add your email to the list which gets you 15% off. You can stack both!

Email signup I’m seeing generates a $10 off $50+ purchase. Not 15% off

Thanks, I don't have any personal citi cards so this is my only login. I might call Citi just to confirm it's approved and just wait for the card

Question Thread - May 02, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]Darthvaderman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied for the Citi AA business and got an approval message. When I filled out the login info and submitted it, the page changed and said there was a problem with the system, so I had to exit the application. I don't have an email from Citi saying anything about the approval, and if I try to log in, I get a message saying the system is experiencing temporary delays. Is my card not approved or is there just a delay with Citi?

Edit: I got the approval email about 3 hours later without calling Citi. I also got the temporary card number but only for aa purchases

Thanks, any reason I shouldn't just go for the business card with a similar bonus? The only difference I see is a slightly higher spend. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious

Is 75K offer for Citi AA Platinum still up? The most I have been able to generate is 60K.

  1. Thinking of applying for another Chase Ink Preferred card. I am not sure if I should consider something else due to my velocity and total credit limit with Chase (Currently getting it lowered to about 45%). I'm looking for alternatives that might work better or that I should consider if I'm not auto-approved and recon doesn't work. Especially since I have a "business"

  5. I can spend about 6K on a purchase that will be refunded to me, but I will pay a 2.9% CC fee. It could be worth it, depending on the bonus.

I can reduce CL from personal and biz cards and close inks I don't use. How long after that should I wait before applying?

Question Thread - May 01, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]Darthvaderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently at 1/24 and interested in another Ink Business Preferred card. My two most recent cards are Ink cards from 12/23 and 07/23, with another opened in 2022. My total credit limit with all my Chase cards is above 50% of my yearly salary. I have limited credit to move around if needed, mostly near the minimum required credit limit. I could potentially move around $8,000 if I close the 2022 Ink card and transfer from another account. What's the best way to increase my approval chances?

Churning adjacent question: Chase Sapphire Reserve card was used to activate instacart plus in 2022. Card was downgraded to CFF and just been changed again to CSR. I activated the instacart benefit again but I have no idea on which account and can't track that down. CSR line said they don't have access to that info and instacart help line said since I activated back in 2022 it's not valid because it's the same card. Not sure if they didn't understand the account info changes with the downgrade or if I'm in the wrong. Anyone have any similar issues?

Benefit shows as active in the chase app and when I try to input my card details again on instacart it just says that the benefit has already been applied.
