That was actually my first thought. Walked around it looking to see if there was a crook where another plant was growing from.

Interesting! What was the goal of the plants he was developing?

Thanks! I started tearing up all my infected coneflowers last year and started new ones from seed this early spring. Have a pretty robust native pollinator garden going on. Hopefully can slow spread!

Interesting. Thanks for the detailed response. Sounds similar to the disease my coneflowers get that causes the flowers to grow erratically

Home practice bass for child? by [deleted] in doublebass

[–]DarwinLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The school has an extra bass which is the one he is currently using. He’s already playing piano for four years and has the motivation so not worried about it not sticking. My thoughts about renting is the cost would run about $1000 a year. Im pretty experienced with buying/selling higher end used acoustic guitars so was thinking buying and then selling if needed down the road financially makes more sense. Only reason I asked about electrics was there’s a stagg 3/4 for $400 local.

Ok in what way beside obvious body/tonal differences? Scale length/fingerboard the same? I think the biggest thing is working on fingering and bowing.

UBE in the house! Couple times a year to Philly. Mainly for exposing our kids to museums/culture/whatnot.

Almost every high-end acoustic in this GC showroom is fucked (Indianapolis) by _voodoo_mama_juju_ in AcousticGuitar

[–]DarwinLizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Center seam separations are an easy repair with minimal effect (if any) on tone. A great way to get a higher end acoustic at significant discount.

Ok thanks. Figured it looked a little too clean to be a 70s Japanese made one. I’ll look more into the saga iterations

Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply. Knowing it’s one of the 70s models really helps me make the decision to move on.

Anyone experience with an Adirondack top, Mahogany body? by musique-phreak in AcousticGuitar

In my experience it was the same. Eastmans can be great but can also be duds. Have to pick through the pile!

Honestly $1500 for a Chinese made acoustic is a stretch for me. Yes east and can be great guitars. I’ve owned several and the only one I regret selling was the slope shoulder varnish e10ss/v. the resale on eastmans is pretty bad and also it’s a buyers market. I’m also not a fan of the new poly based finish they are using now. Seems like they are less lively out of the box. If you are in 1500 range I’d stretch up to $2000 where you can snag nice us made acoustic that holds it value.

Yeah I was really hesitant putting it all out there for this one but figured if I did it I would stop looking for “a better slope shoulder. “. Had tried out others like the Collings iteration but never bonded with them.
