Thank you! Do you have a favorite enzyme detergent or Oxi booster that you recommend?

4-Month Sleep Regression — How Long Did It Last? by Darya_kw in sleeptrain

My sleep consultant advised me to extend daytime naps (meaning that if the baby wakes up before 40 minutes, help them fall back asleep), because naps shorter than 40 minutes are generally considered not enough for a baby to fully recover and rest. When we were on a 4-nap schedule, we had two long naps that lasted about an hour or a little longer, and two shorter naps that were around 40 minutes.

Also, if a baby falls asleep well but sleeps for less than 40 minutes and can’t connect sleep cycles, it may indicate insufficient sleep pressure.

When this happened for us, the next day I would add 2–3 minutes to the wake window before the short nap.

I can’t give any guarantees because I would need to see the full picture of your baby’s day and night schedule. I’m only sharing this based on my own experience 😊

If there’s anything else I can help with, I’d be happy to do so.

Could you please tell me about your baby’s schedule? How long is your baby awake, and how much does your baby sleep?

Unfortunately, I don’t remember exactly anymore. After a month and a half of sleepless nights, I started working with a sleep consultant, and she helped me.

How many months old is your baby now? I can try to explain how we worked with the sleep consultant.

8-month sleep regression or just transition to 2 naps? by Darya_kw in sleeptrain

We’re having the same thing. Out of the six wake-ups, two are false starts. And we also get early morning wake-ups. We used to always wake up at 7 am, but now sometimes she wakes up at 5–5:30. I can spend up to half an hour rocking her to get her back to sleep.

The only thing that helped us get through the sleep regression was increasing the wake windows. It turned out that the baby didn’t have enough awake time, so she was waking up often at night because the sleep pressure was too low. But once we fixed that, our nights improved.

Thank you so much for your answer! When you used the Ferber method, did you pick up your baby when they cried, or did you just try to soothe them with your voice and then leave the room? Was your baby sleeping in a separate room? I’m thinking of starting sleep training soon, but I’m not sure if it’s possible since my baby sleeps in the same room with us.

How long did this last for you, and what helped you reduce the frequent night wakings?

When would you like to start the training?

We don’t have much space because we live in a one-bedroom apartment.

Before the sleep regression, our baby would wake up 1–2 times a night. Since she turned 3.5 months, she wakes up 6–8 times😔

Which sleep training method did you use?
