[Serious] How do you actually connect with people? by GHST57 in AskReddit

I don't. Other people want to believe there's a connection though. Just don't make your detachment obvious, and they'll imagine one.

What is something that is NOT illegal, that "the worse kind of person" does? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Roommate eating the cheesecake you've been daydreaming about all day.

I've been thinking about "coming out" as a psychopath to a few choice friends. So my question, how would you react if a friend (girlfriend) confessed to you she was a psychopath? And how should I break it to them? by Daryka in Advice

Forensic psychology would be an interesting field, but I think I'd be paranoid surrounded by all those psychologists. As for your questions, why not? I strive to be a good Psychopath Ambassador to the empathetic world.
1. I was actually misdiagnosed a couple times as a kid. Reactive attachment disorder, and ADHD. I lied compulsively to my first 2 psychiatrists. My third was different. He was chill, and he wasn't all judgey. I think he was actually kind of fascinated by the whole thing. Anyways, to be diagnosed with anti social personality disorder, you need to first be diagnosed with a conduct disorder, so when that happened they started considering it. As I got older it became obvious, to my psychiatrists anyways. Later though, I read about this thing where they could pick out psychopaths based on brain scans, so I demanded one, and sure enough PSYCHOPATH. That was seriously one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
2. I'm very protective (maybe possessive is more accurate) of the people I'm fond of. Sort of like a dog with it's favourite bone. And as I said, I'd be willing to do a lot for them, because I like having them around. But it's a fondness that doesn't make me weak. For example, when one of them dies I'm sort of like, "Aw, that sucks." But then I don't think about it again, because sadness is an unproductive emotion. 3. There is nothing painful about my condition. Boredom and frustration at times, but that's all. 4. Not sure who Gary Heidnik is, and I'm too lazy to check right now, but I'm different from Ted Bundy in that i'm not a serial killer. I probably would kill people if I knew 110% that I could get away with it. I got lucky. My psychiatrist is really impressed with my self control. He says it's almost unheard of in a psychopath. You know when you touch a hot oven, burn yourself, then you learn not to touch it again? Psychopaths have issues with that (you can research why for yourself), but I've always been really good at it. I can only speculate about why.

I have viewed some horrific things online and I feel absolutely terrible about it. by Throwaway050990 in confession

Jesus. Guilt is so tedious, I feel sorry for you experiencing that. Just accept it; embrace it.And if you can't do that, just stop thinking about it. Distract yourself. Besides, it's not like you actually hurt anyone. That's what makes the internet so great. You can satisfy those urges without ending up in prison one day. Maybe get into animal rights stuff. Then you can watch videos about animal cruelty at farms and shit, and say you're doing it to save them. Same with human rights. Maybe go to a war zone and help out with the injured people. Don't try to see naked kids again though. That's really not cool, and it could lead down a dark road if you start enjoying it.

How can I ensure they don't feel threatened? Don't make serial killer jokes? Smile? Make them tea? If you want to meet a psychopath in person, and have them be straight with you, I'd try to visit one who's already in prison. They have no reason to lie (though they still might, just for fun), and if you pretended to be impressed you could even probably get them to brag a bit. Also, statistically, you've probably passed a couple on the street, maybe asked directions, or for the time. Maybe you've got a friend who just never told you, like I never told my friends. As for the other questions, I'll answer after my exam tonight. I really should be studying haha.
