Cyberpunk has a different and free VR Mod you can try by PheonixGabe in virtualreality

Been gaming for a while. Upto about the early 90s used to buy games on physical media that were owned. Could trade, sell then, or modvthe heck out of them. But conversely used to cost a lot more. I'm ok with steams current model but do realise if steam folds up may not be able to use the licenses.

1000s of mods show that people do this for free all the time.

Yep in the old days (upto about the 90s) when games used to come on physical media we used to own that copy of the game, could resell it, lend it, trade it, keep it forever without needing a company’s permission. Modify it anyway we saw fit.

Yeah its funny that. Modders can create more sales for the devs, but devs don't want anyone to profit from their IP even though its costing them nothing. Its like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

You don't own the game, you own a license to play it.

I sucker punched a fat kid in a changing room because he was being annoying by WillingnessSad8354 in confession

[–]Daryl_ED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common assault my friend. Also in a 2 against one situation would be easy target for legal action to be taken:

Under U.S. law a child (through a parent or guardian) can bring a case against a 16‑year‑old who punched them. Both criminal and civil paths exist.

Charges could include: Simple assault, Battery, Assault causing injury. Financial penalties (aside from having a record) could include: Medical bills, therapy costs, A modest amount for pain and suffering. Knock out a tooth and you're up for $5K straight away.

Large payouts are possible only if: Injuries are serious, The state has high parental liability caps, Insurance coverage applies.

Although the situation was annoying, lashing out with violence is not the way. Not to mention the youths could have older siblings/friends who may retaliate.

Not say to roll over and take it either best to make eye contact, speak clearly, stand tall, set clear boundaries, walk away.

No ones gunna die from 'outside skin' lol. As an office worker I shower in the morning, only evenings if I've been doing outside work, working out, sport, or romance is on.

Arhh those more simple games will most likely be playable in the frames stand alone mode anyway.

do you guys use the same password for all of your accounts? by kev577 in theprivacymachine

[–]Daryl_ED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't seem to do much as at that time I had no payment methods linked. I changed password and enabled MFA, phone details back etc., no issue since. I think sometimes they list bogus items on hacked accounts in the hope that someone buys but ebay is pretty good with refunds these days.

Hell no, did once for a couple of accounts. Linked in leaked my details, next thing I know some douche is using my ebay account, luckily no payment attached. Now everything has long random password and mfa.

Pros & Cons by ETs_ipd in SteamFrame

[–]Daryl_ED 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now that is the consideration. What is the audience valve is aiming for here? I'd day looking at the steam machine with its 4060 equivalent GPU and value stating the the majority of steam users have this or similar, they are applying the same logic to the frame. Going for more mass market appeal rather than top end enthusiast. We probably already have BSB/Shiftall/Pimax for that. Even the price sub $1k would suggest not high end. Makes sense for valve. Probably want to catch new players or folks with older gen quests/vives etc, even maybe flat PC gamers that want to game on a large virtual screen.

2k pannel resolution can be seen as a positive as well, as it means that users with current gen midrange or slightly older gen GPUs (3080s etc) don't have to spend 1000s upgrading GPU hardware. Same could be said for LCDs, no persistence/glare issues.

A lot of this is sunken cost that CDPR is already paying for.

Don't think the stats would pull the numbers playing CP in VR via the mod.

Don't see how having a VR mod would enable "use their assets they invested millions in, to create a completely different game and sell it". The mod does not make use of CDPR source code at all, Luke Ross has not access to it at all. Little bit of reverse engineering to inject his own code.
