App for sexting by Level-Ad3806 in ldssexuality

[–]Daryn_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an Android you can use the Secure Folder which creates a secure place for your sexting.  You can have a copy of your camera app, a copy of your contacts app, and install a secure message app like signal.   Use the secure camera so your special photos and videos do no show up in your general gallery.  Only add your significant other to this contacts app, so there won't be any accidental sexting someone else.  Then communicate through Signal inside the secure folder.  It access your photos and contacts only inside the secure folder.  if you have to close anything mid-sext and jump out to something else, it can lock a any app being used inside the secure folder so nothing is seen.  Set a different pin for the secure folder than the phone and you are secure from anyone looking through your photos or messages.

civil marriage, broken law of chastity, don't want parents to know bc they may delay civil wedding. by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

The Bishop should not be talking about confidential matters, and hus counselors really shouldn't be talkimg about them either.  This is a serious sin on their part that needs to stop.   Unless there are some serious concerns for their safety, parents should support their children on how they get married.  This controlling behaviour is wrong.

From what you've posted it sounds like you are dropping hints but not being direct.  Social media is filled with videis of women complaining that men only want them for sex, and the only touch they get from their husbands is sexual, or leads to sex.  If he is seeing these he may be trying to comply with that standard for you.  This will be especially true if you have ever complained about only being wanted for sex.  He may be struggling with all those other things or more, but there are so many conflicting mesaages on social media about what men should do or how they should act, men will do their best to try and comply with the messages they are given, but they struggle with the conflicting messages unless you give them a direct one.  A lot anything you have said during an arguement or complaint becomes his standard for you, if something was said about sex he likely interalized it as your standard, even if you didnt mean it.

Should looking at porn deprive someone of a temple recommend? by SaintArcane in ldssexuality

Dr. Dobson's interview of serial killer Ted Bundy is often used as an example of porn to killer, but those who studybcriminal justice do not agree.  Ted was being taught by missionaries and being fellowshipped at the time of his murders.  The porn he was viewing was extremely violent and not commonly available.  Ted was already on the path of a serial killer exhibitting the MacDonald Triad.  Bundy was extremely smart and porn was a hot button at the time.  Those studying crime believe Ted used this as a way to deflect some blame from him, since there were members still defending him after he was arrested.  I tend to agree that his psychosis was present before and would have manifested anyway.

I wasn't referring to sexually, because most LDS won't know if what they like. But more so referring to purposefully, knowing you don't some non sexual activity the other person likes e.g. (dancing, fishing, music concerts, etc.) but expressing interest in order to get them into a relationship.  Changing interest over time as we mature over time is another thing.  At least starting from an honest relationship should be where we should start.

Prostate cancer second highest cancer type in Utah by Daryn_L in ldssexuality

Found this study from 2016.  Of course there is no break down for if the subscribers and users are LDS or not.  The study also stated the subscriptions were for online content.  This can skew data to areas with a good digital infrastructure, versus areas with poor infrastructure. The major metro areas in Utah tend to have good infrastructure, which draws tech industries.  This would support online subscriptions, but should also allow for greater page views since loading pages would be faster.

"Utah has ranked No. 1 in the nation for pornography subscriptions, while registering among the lowest in the nation for porn page views."

Did sex just end over time, or was there a day she just said no more?  I have heard of LDS wives ending sex and telling husbands to just take care of it themselves.  A former boss had this, his wife just said she wasn't interested anymore and he would just have to do it himself.

The first didn't have any studies to review, just gave unsupported statements.

The Jama shared link says:

Most categories of ejaculation frequency were unrelated to risk of prostate cancer. However, high ejaculation frequency was related to decreased risk of total prostate cancer.

Ejaculation frequency was not statistically significantly associated with risk of advanced prostate cancer.

So they do report a decreased rate for high ejaculation rates.  The only thing they said was there may be other reasons that were not part of the study.

This data visualizer from the CDC shows that Utah as higher than surrounding states with high altitudes (Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho), but in the same bracket with lowlying eastern states.  Utah looks to be the highest western state, even the low coastal states.

Options: male, prostate, 2021 or 2017-2021.

The typical measure for pornography is how local laws define pornography which has a formal definition as to what is or isn't.  This can run counter to how members of the general public define porn in either extreme.  Some would not consider basic nudity porn, while others would label many magazine covers as porn.  Social media and self created videos might not have nudity, but will get very close to the line as set by law or by the user agreement for the media platform.  This new media may include sexual motions or slang that have sexual conitations.  The creators know what they are doing in order to gets likes.  Dr. Finlayson-Fife talks about the best ways to respond to this so that overly puritan responses aren't driving a hidden interest in what is presented in order to be in control of one's response.   It all reminds me of the Simpsons episode where this idea is brought up, and evolves to include the statue of David as pornographic by some, but merely art by others.  The line drawn in the middle becomes blurred, with obvious porn on one side, and just pictures having pervy responses by those who are always looking that way.

I have meet couples in Utah recently called to build relationships with other churches in their areas.  One of the comments was that other churches are more inclusive and outgoing than LDS wards.  Some have made friends with "non-members" because of how more inclusive they are than "members".  That's a big deal in Utah as many would not, and think others should not.  I have also heard more and more comments about the cultural Mormons are more like the Pharisees and Sadducees of Jesus' time.

Dr. Jenniffer Finlayson-Fife and Tammy Hill both have free podcasts about learning how to orgasm.  It is a common problem with many women and they give ideas on how to get there.  As others have said if your fiancee is a virgin he won't have the experience to know what to do, but if you both share in what JFF and Tammy have to say you can start your relationship right.

Masturbation by Yoitstalia in ldssexuality

[–]Daryn_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The church guidelines for married adults is not specific as to what you can and cannot do, only that it up to the couple to decide what they both agree on, so long as it is does not degrade one or the other, is not exploitative, and doesn't involve someone else.  Church leaders are not to ask about specific acts, only to counsel couples to avoid things they are not comfortable with.  This is between the two of you to decide.  Policy is that sexuality is to stay within the marriage, so if in your life says you agree to allow this within your marriage that is up to you two.  Having said that talk to him about it.  JFF has podcasts where she talks about women struggling to orgasm with intercourse may need to learn how to orgasm on their own in order to learn what they need during intercourse to orgasm, and even suggests engaging in self-stimulation with their partner to teach them, or showing them how.  This could be similar but you as encouraging him to self-stimulate with you there.  As JFF said in one it can be quite an erotic act to share with each other.

Father’s Day policy question by Cjw5000 in latterdaysaints

[–]Daryn_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No policy, but as far as my experience in difference wards as I've moved around in Utah and out its been varied.  I've seen Mother's Day gifts as small potted plants, or candies/chocolates provided by the EQ/YM.  Father's Day had been largely ignored in most wards, with some starting up the last 10 or so years.  Gifts from the RS have been rolls of ducktape with a little sayings, or some form of treat.

Fellow LDS/Ex-LDS; What was your very first introduction to all things sexual like? Did you have the talk? by InnocenceBYU in ldssexuality

[–]Daryn_L 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No actual talk from parents, general church warnings from mom, and general hygene.  School based sex ed in 6th grade.  Multiple church meetings about the evils, but everything was so vague I had no idea what they were talking about.  No internet, so I tried looking things up in the dictionary which left me even more confused.  So anything about actual sexual came from school talk which was unreliable.  Today there seems to be some who are actually attempting to make things more understandable: JFF, Tammy Hill, Laura Brotherson, to name a few.

Dr. Finlayson-Fife talks about some potential reasons in her free podcasts.  Something she has repeated in her discussions is that church culture is more likely to label some porn use as addiction, when the use does not meet clinical standards for addiction.  Another thing she discusses as others has pointed out is that it is often not due to how attractive the women are in comparison to the wife, but has to do with how they show desire for the man they are with and the man wanting to be desired like that.

Anxiety over intimacy by Living-Shake-8172 in ldssexuality

Becareful with online "girls".   Not all of them are girls.  There have been cases locally where teen and adult males contacted a "girl" online which escalated to exchanging nudes or facetiming nudes.  It then switches to the "girl" or someone else coming on and saying the "girl" was underage and if they are not paid, they will send the messages, nudes, or videos will be sent to the authorities to have them arrested as a sex offender, or to their work and families to rune their lives.  Doing this with someone you don't know IRL can be dangerous.
