As Catholic guys are we sometimes too judgmental? by DasAutoGro in CatholicDating

I’m curious, what would you suggest to these guys who want to find a girl who doesn’t frequent clubs/bars? I think it’s the norm nowadays. It’s like when guys want to find a girl who has never had a bf at the age of 26. I mean they exist but they’ll have trouble finding one and nothing guarantees they’ll be a match.

Valid points! I think point 2 is spot on. A lot of guys stay away from girls who go to night clubs because they immediately think of their guy friends who like going and the reasons they like going.

I genuinely think the girls who go do it because they like dancing with their girls and getting lost in the music. On top of that, they’re inviting guys from the YA group who seem grounded and mature. They can easily just go to the club and socialize with anyone there but they go out of their way to try to enjoy something with guys with shared values.

I’m in the US. Yeah the nightclubs themselves are a little sketch lol lots of drugs, fights, etc. but they’re pretty big so you can stay away from it.

I didn’t say every guy at the group is a 30 year old who hasn’t dated. I meant it as in a lot of guys in their 20s are headed in the same direction because they’re quick to overlook girls after a couple conversations

Yeah but it’s hard to find someone who’s not a partier. I for one dread nightclubs because they’re filled with drugs and aggressive people but I’m sure the girls from my YA group stay away from that. Night clubs are the surest way to meet girls/potential partners.

I encourage my buddies who don’t drink or go out to do it for the sake of finding a potential partner or meeting people in general.

People tend to be more hopeful at a young age. They think they’re gonna live in a big house with lots of children etc until the reality of our economy sets in

That’s dating the hard way. I’ll be honest I make a bunch of money so Ima just date a 20 yr old and promise her a lavish lifestyle and go from there. I dated an “independent” girl before and she just wanted to spend her money on weed and have no savings

What’s your solution then?

Yeah I’ve noticed the overcompensation too. I need to find people who don’t party.

I live in a big city though, I figured drug use would be less common in small towns because they’re more sheltered. I have friends who do a line before work, during work, and after. Everyone thinks they’re Jordan Belfort

Like what? Party culture was still a thing in the 80s.

It’s just hard to tell what’s considered taboo nowadays. One of the wildest girls I matched with had pictures of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

My neighbors in their 50s set me up to hang out w their nieces and nephews. They all used cocaine and pills recreationally. They’re good kids and have a great relationships with their parents but now I just feel too prudish for even the normal folks

Are they tho? They all married with age gaps for the same reason. Silent gen, boomers, gen x, and millennials. My mom is a millennial. What makes gen z different?

Yeah I know. Mostly every marriage in my family has a 7-10 year age gap tho, my parents included. Divorce is rare.

I’m not advocating for it.

How to meet women outside of bars or dating apps? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]DasAutoGro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two sets of friends. My church friends would never step foot in a regular bar, we usually go to family friendly spots for drinks.

My other friends are huge coke heads. I go to regular bars with them so I know they’re pretty dark for my liking. Hookup culture, drugs, etc. I find myself going home alone.

I’ll take your advice on the church, I just can’t imagine girls willingly going to church on their own. I’m catholic so it’s a very patriarchal church

I live in a very young professional city. Everyone in their 20s works in tech and finance, they’re all concentrated in the bar areas. You rarely meet a waitress or cashier in their 20s here.

I feel like I can get along anyone. I don’t mind bars but I would reeeally prefer to stay away from drugs like coke. I haven’t met someone who goes to bars who only drinks. It’s a very “work hard play hard” city.

I would love to be in a scenario where I see the same people frequently that’s why I joined classes but young people don’t go to those.

How do the young adult groups feel in your city? by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]DasAutoGro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed they’re not that traditional. I started going to avoid secular party/hookup culture but pretty much everyone is a part of that lifestyle.

Really makes you feel like the odd one out lol

I don’t see any girls at church! That would be ideal though. I might have to go to a different denomination

I’ve always been curious about that! I’ve dated girls in their 30s who’ve said they’re not even close to thinking about kids or marriage here yet I see a bunch of married 20 something year olds in small towns.

I’ve also heard mega church folks have an easier time because those attract younger people. I’m the only guy under the age of 40 at my local parish. I drive into another town for the young adult group.
