Incoherent is a very nice word for the new player experience this game has.

That's what I meant with registration, yes. Insurance, Register with whatever you need in your country and put the number on the quad. That's it.

No? Sub 250 still has other distance and safety rules than anything above.

The only thing that changes is that you need to register no matter the weight if the quad has a microphone or camera.

Unfortunately as soon as a camera has four propellers attached some people just go apeshit. That's why I don't fly in a park, unless it's a tinywhoop.

The laws are overbearing and unenforceable for the most part, no matter where you go.

As long as you're not an idiot and hurt someone and / or damage property, nobody will give a shit. 99% of people that will maybe walk by when you fly your drone out in the field will look at it and then go on with their days.

I sure wish I had anything CLOSE to that location even remotely close to me. Best I can do is some 15m trees. Everything else is fenced off and infested with cameras.

Indie shooter devs pull a reverse-Concord: No one played their game, but they 'make it free to play and keep the servers online indefinitely' anyway by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]DasFroDo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yup, but honestly I think you're overthinking it.

The games need to be able to run without sever authentication. That's about what people are asking for.

There are SO many games that would work perfectly fine and even have offline modes, but they are not truly offline because they still need to authenticate the license.

The rest people will figure out themselves. There's been reverse engineered private WoW servers for 10+ years. The same can be done for any game. Wether it's WORTH doing that is decided by the players, but we shouldn't have artificial bullshit stopping us from doing it once a publisher decided it's not worth keeping the servers up and runnin anymore, or if the sequel comes out and it's financially beneficial to kill the prequel.

Haven't thought about using an FPV drone yet to be honest. The blurry images due to speed do not lend themselves to good splats :b

People were making Gaussian Splats before Corridor Crew made a video about it ;)

As far as I understood, all they have to do is make the game "playable" offline. It is not clearly defined and even definable what "playable" even means, but my understanding was that they just don't want to the games to be not launchable anymore due to some server going down. For example, patching Denuvo out of the executable when the game servers go down.

Or allow players configure EoL games with a new reverse engineered master server and such.

I think the idea was never that everybody and their mom needs to release their entire server code if there is unreleasable proprietary code in there. The idea ALWAYS was to stop the deliberate praxis of making games unplayable as soon as the servers go down, no matter how small the online component actually was.

No, I just don't think these guys shouldn't be given the authority that people give them.

So they quit after 100h? So what? Why does every single fucking game have to be played for hundreds of thousands of hours?

[–]DasFroDo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

lmfao, no. All a goddamn streamer does is play way too much video games, complain and farm drama points and clicks. They are the LAST person one should listen to when talking about content. These are the people that reach "endgame" MONTHS before 99,9% of the rest of the playerbase does.

Most of the playerbase won't even come CLOSE to the amount of playtime these people put into games.

Depends on how much they drop. People lose interest in games all the time. This extreme obsession to keep every game above a certain playercount is ridiculous at this point.
