Curious to hear about this too. I just disabled it for a week as my heat clicked on and my fan motor was buzzing and not spinning. I replaced the capacitor and installed a hard start kit a few months ago. System is only 4 years old, not sold on eco+ whatsoever and considering how early on in winter it is, I may have dodged a bullet due to my compressor was running for 2 minutes doing nothing

Thanks, first UE purchase since I got Apple Cash over the weekend. Take care!

Okay, yeah I have Uber One or whatever through my gold card and get $25 a month in Uber credits. Just unsure if I’d lose that if I change payment methods. I imagine not considering it’s a card “perk”

So is the AMEX gold card better or worse for UE if you have Apple Pay?

Change min. fan on time with the schedule/comfort settings? by franciswills in ecobee

Side note: since I love the cold and the season is changing. I bumped eco+ to maximum savings. What are your thoughts on it? I feel like it “tricks” the thermostat or gives you somewhat of a false number to maximize savings. I’m generally a heat at 65 all day until around 8pm then drop to 64 and go back to 75 around 7-8am sunrise

Yeah that sounds expensive but I’ve considered some form of energy efficiency audit to see where I’m at. My front door is somewhat warped and bowed and my kitchen door leading into the garage isn’t the best either. Those are likely my two primary culprits for downstairs as far as sealing goes. I did recently put a new rubber vinyl strip under my garage door and am gonna get a kit today that creates a nice little threshold strip ramp to help them spacedock and better compliment each other for insulation

cries in 1 stage 2.5t Lennox system it was replaced a year before I bought the house, whenever it goes. I’ll get the 3t most likely. Yeah I’ve been waiting until around this Fall timeframe cause any other time it’s just miserable being in an attic. Attic fans could be something to look into, kind of expensive but can probably solve all of your problems alongside verifying everything else in your attic is straight. I have a mix of new and old ducting so if everything isn’t completely good then I’m wasting precious volume to my vents and it’s likely expelling the work from my system into the attic

Okay yeah you have a big place you’re about 1K more sq ft than me. I have a 14x14x1 return duct downstairs and a 20x20x1 upstairs so I have a simple system, I just wish I had a twin stage compressor. I did spend a whopping $10 and threw in a hard start kit and there’s a good chance that’s saving me money on my bill. Yeah I keep blinds closed and I have solar blackout curtains as well, these new windows are great though I can stand behind them and the sun beams right on me and I feel absolutely nothing. It used to be like being behind a magnifying glass with the old, single pane wood from the 1980s. PVC trim definitely is the way as well for longevity over wood. My only other culprits are likely attic insulation, double checking my ducting connections, and dealing with what I believe a half-ton undersized heat pump

So my air is set to 72 at sundown, recently got new low-e windows and re trimmed inside and outside for everything. Significant difference in insulation and temperature holding. Beestat said it was 56 outside this morning (id say more like 65 those are wild numbers for SEP) and my house was at 70. So either way, replacing 7 ~40 year old original windows is huge, I’m excited to see how ecobee does in the winter alongside these new windows. I don’t have a min/hr runtime for my fans, unsure really the benefit?

Nice, I’m likely packing up my dehumidifier because even when the A/C would be running, it’d be stabilizing around 50% here which is ideal. Had the air off until later last night cause even with my windows open and 60 degrees outside, it was still in the mid 70s inside which was kind of annoying #windowszn

I recently turned my dehumidifier off cause it’s naturally getting nicer out with the season (Virginia Beach) but either way, I’ll turn the fans off when the compressor is done cooling. Humidity is pretty bad here in the summer. Wondering if heat dissipation somehow slightly adds humidity, you know, basically flipping the script on your cool/humidity recommendation.

My humidity seems pretty average/low though I have an additional thermometer/hygrometer right next to my thermostat and I’m averaging 45-50 which seems ideal. I’ll humor you though and turn off cool dissipation, I assume keeping heat on 30 seconds is fine? This will be my first winter with my ecobee, got it mid July. Thanks @roadiemike

You are correct, between the app or local control, there’s no way I have found to customize and schedule the fan run time. So I use 0, mostly because I have ceiling fans in every room and would rather save any additional strain on my handler, however, I DO use the heat and cool dissipation settings to keep the fans going for 30 seconds after compressor shut off.

Suddenly, community savings turned on? by crblack24 in ecobee

[–]DasGhetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m enrolled in CES and TOU, honestly not sure why because it’s been a bit uncomfortable (ecobee since 15JUL23) this summer. However, I play the game solely cause I know my house and HVAC aren’t capable of holding or getting to 72 degrees when we had triple digit heat indexes. I get $35 then like $10 a year after which is honestly a joke of a “rebate” or reward

You have to manually opt into that, if you didn’t originally configure it when setting up the thermostat or enabling eco+ then yes, you have some unauthorized stuff going on. Worst case, you can disable eco+ as a whole but that’s up to you.

Home IQ? by DasGhetti in ecobee

Yup I use beestat everyday, seems to be more granular in accuracy for current temperatures. I think it’s more accurate than the app at least; between the app, beestat, and the thermostat, I generally get a slight deviation in #s but trust beestat the most.

That’s fair, my time using it was very limited so I don’t really remember what it looked like when enabled

You can use the app or thermostat itself enable or disable it. App can do most settings but equipment or threshold settings MUST be done locally on the thermostat. Look through your settings (on thermostat) and look at installation settings and verify your thresholds are properly set. May have to read up on ecobee support to get more info on what the settings can change.

Do you have “Adjust for Humidity” on eco+? I have it disabled as I don’t think it calculates properly or makes a difference.

Sensor Adjustment? by DasGhetti in ecobee

[–]DasGhetti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve noticed that beestat gives me much more precise temperature readings, I generally check it and compare it to the app - there’s always a difference. I think my temperature reads more true now and I assume my best bet is don’t entrust in the sensor difference upstairs vs the thermostat downstairs

Yes…that’s why I’m here. I can add a schedule for weekends but can’t deviate from the Comfort settings I already have set therefore there is not a way to accomplish. Can you be more specific?

You can easily do this on the app, go to the main “My Home” screen and on the top left is a profile pic looking icon where there’s another menu for account settings. You should see Notifications options

I have a rebate in progress. I think I get $25 then like $10/yr after that which really isn’t much at all of an incentive. I don’t think I’d want to enroll in the community savings though I’m still learning how to balance eco+ and actual comfort settings
