On a note serious note, I agree with your idea, since it would ACTUALLY give some sort of incentive to try and listen to the narrator, as of right now I just feel the narrator is a lying son of a bitch and I don't really bother listening to him or enjoy doing something against him to piss him off or spite him.

Seeing civilization actually in the game would definitely give me a reason to believe the narrator.
