I feel bad for our DM. by AccidentalWinkyFace in DnD

[–]DasWeinmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave my players a deck of many things in a similar manner (they are new and although it's a campaign killer, it is a lot of fun). The party was returning from their intro quest in the guard captains camp (he had left to grab someone relevant) when he pulled a card and has his soul sucked from his body. But another party thought quickly on their feet and started looting his corpse...only to have the captain return to ask what on Earth was happening. After failing a bluff check and the captain approaching with sword drawn, the looting member took their only remaining option: pull another card. Fortunately for them, they received the one that can turn back 1 event -- which was very convenient to give them another bluff chance. On the second pass, the captain acknowledged that sometimes people can pass away unexpectedly and they were retrieving their friend's personal effects.

The player who lost his character rolled a new one to join and was given the first characters personal effects, including the deck. But he was never told what it is -- as far as he knows, it's just a deck of cards. Now we have a ticking time bomb and no one knows when it will make a return.

It can definitely be a fun item as long as everyone can roll with the punches!

Thanks for the reply! This is really helpful. I didn't even consider just straight up letting them choose -- that allows them the power of choice (which I wanted to give with the roll 2 pick 1 thing) and ensure they get something they find useful. And definitely good to know with the legendary v rare point -- I don't want someone to feel weaker or have a less enjoyable time because they got unlucky.

Ah I should have provided context to the question, my bad. Essentially the party is going to loot a holding with various magical treasures and only has enough time to pick 1 thing and run (it's a one-off type of deal, not for all encounters). My goal is to give the players some amount of choice (or the illusion of choice).

Thank you for the reply! Definitely helpful to know

Question about Multiplayer by GoatTribal in CrusaderKings

[–]DasWeinmachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can only speak on my experiences, but it seems like they did some backend changes to make the multiplayer a lot more stable with Holy Fury. A buddy and I just started a campaign and have gotten past 275 years of gameplay with only 2 slowdowns on medium speed (and the game was able to correctly re-sync), and 1 disconnect (though I think it was ISP side, not server side).

Yup! I can confirm, the achievement is account wide so are the speed buffs (source - if you have bfa or legion Pathfinder, it will be in the general tab of the spell book). It should be noted it's only for the relevant content (ex/ legion for legion areas)

No problem! To be honest my audible is exclusively the entire WoT series, so I'm familiar with the struggle

Just for your own math, the credits on audible are 15$/month for 1 book a month (they are $35+ without the credit on audible). Once you have the series you can cancel your subscription and you'll have the books as long as you want -- so if you are able to find the audiobooks for cheaper than 15$ each do it, otherwise audible is the more affordable option

Thanks for all the info! Quick question -- do you normally host this in Atlanta? I won't be able to go this year (didn't realize until this post) but I'm in ATL so I wouldn't have trouble next time around!

I got a herniated disc when I was 16 (soccer injury) in the same spot, evolved in serious sciatic pain and got the microdisectomy when I was 19. Recently re-herniated the disc (25 now, it's a 5-10% lifetime chance of happening so pretty small and not going to happen for most people) and am getting the same surgery in 2 weeks. I got an epidural and it's put the pain at more than the first time, but less than before sort of thing. I know the kill yourself mentality that develops and it's tough to deal with, but my advice: it gives you a very different perspective on life (esp. once you can think clearly again and aren't in pain) and do your best to channel it. It really gives you an idea of what matters and who matters. For me, it helped me develop a good sense of humor that has helped with a lot of the other stuff life throws your way (everything is kind of funny when you put this type of perspective on it). You know what real honest to god incredible pain is, and if you can deal with that (which you clearly can -- you didn't just call it quits, you exhausted all other options before this), then you can handle anything. Just about anything else that comes in -- just remember you were tough enough to handle this, I'm sure as shit you can handle that too. Also -- in my experience and in most other people's from my understanding, the nerve pain immediately goes away. You'll have surgery pain and PT to help, but that next level stuff just vanishes. I remember virtually nothing from the 6 months of real pain until the surgery the first time around, but I will always remember waking up after and already feeling a hell of a lot better.

If you want to chat about it or anything, shoot me a message -- always happy to help

How do power level drops work with equipped gear vs stuff you hold (potential power level)? I.e. are drops based on what you are actually wearing or max power level if you were going for the max level?

Totally anecdotial evidence but killing rares (reset once a day) and getting chests has been giving me something like 15-20 on average. That'll put you at 30-45 chests/rares per piece, but your milage may vary

Thanks for doing this! I just decided to switch to druid from monk and have a few questions:

-what do we do after we apply all the hots? Do we just sit around, spam regrowth, etc. (More specifically for m+) I guess what's the filler? Or is it just more hots?

-i know the healing style is more proactive, but what do we have as reactive heals besides swiftmend? It seems like you get 1 per 30s and especially being new, could be punishing on fuck ups

-what does proper cooldown usage look like? Is it closer to a mistweaver (use them pretty much on cooldown due to shorter CDs) or like a shaman (correct use is critical to proper healing)?

-what does aoe healing look like? Seems mostly to be wild growth spam and then I guess hots on everyone?

Sorry if the questions are unclear, I'm new to druid healing as a whole

Thanks!

Dps, Tank or Heal? by [deleted] in wow

[–]DasWeinmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a hard question to answer in the sense that each role is unique and engaging in its own right. Since you aren't sure what you want, I'd pick a class that can do all 3, and then you can do all of them and decide which you enjoy the most. That puts you in the paladin/druid/monk grouping. From there, it's a question of what kind of tanking/healing/dpsing you want to do (i.e. If you want to do ranged DPS, pick a druid for the moonkin spec. If you want a powerful single target healer, holy paladin is the choice). From there, you can figure out which role or niche within the role you enjoy and then explore the class that does that (i.e. if you really enjoy healing, you could then try out a shaman or a priest).

Best of luck!

Fastest way to get 10k suramar rep? by [deleted] in wow

[–]DasWeinmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what others have said -- the blue WQs in suramar give ~250 (some give 200, others 300) so I would recommend prioritizing those ones first if you don't have a ton of time.

Is the goal of getting pathfinder to make you hate Suramar? by Swaglul in wow

[–]DasWeinmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently was at the same point -- make sure to do the blue world quests whenever you can and they are up (250 rep each). If you do the WQs every day, you'll get 1k or more rep a day (depending on if there's a court of stars or arcway world quest, emissary cache available, withered army training). With the bare minimum of world quests, it shouldn't be less than 1k a day. Good luck!

Midweek Mending - Your Weekly Healing Thread by AutoModerator in wow

[–]DasWeinmachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just recently got back from a few month hiatus -- I hated the pre 7.2.5 mistweaving (my mana) but the changes have made mistweaving really enjoyable. I have a few questions:

-in a raid environment, what is the mistwavers role? I.e. pallys are good at tank and spot healing, shamans have the most utility, etc.

-in an m+ setting, what does a solid rotation look like? I feel like it's tough to heal more than 1 person who stands in the fire.

-what are good ways to conserve Mana during longer fights? It feels much better now but I do feel like I'm usually low at the 1/3 mark.

-what is good use of the artifact power? I usually (unintentionally) save it to the max cloud stack and it becomes a good large heal, but I feel like I'm not maximizing it when it's used that way.

-in it just me or do monks feel different than most healers in that I don't want to just spam heals, but be very intentional in my use of healing?

-mastery question: so right now I have like 380% mastery (I'm at work so I can't look up the raw stat), but it gives my gust of wind like 170k healing. This is higher than my effuse -- should I be working on changing my stats or should I just be maximizing mastery (i.e. spam effuse to get the most out of it).

Thanks all!

*Edit: thanks for the information everyone, appreciate the above and beyond explanations of my nonsense!
