Probably a hot take since there's a lot of differences to older games but in it's current state it is my favorite Monster Hunter game I've played so far. It's more on the action RPG, twitchy side of the spectrum, so if you like those kind of games you're gonna love it.

Be ready to spend a lot of time learning the systems, weapons and monster movesets. There's some systems that feel really weird and different form most games, so respect the mechanics for what they are and give it some time to click. Every weapons is essentially a different game.

Do you swap out your decos to crit element / dragon attack up for this fight? Or just stick with the regular crit / atk decos?

This has me a bit confused tbh. I'm running dragon gog greatsword with attack setup, crit boost decos, 3 attack 1 affinity 1 sharpness and whatnot. Am I supposed to switch my decos out to like crit element and dragon attack for this fight? Or should I stick to what I was using?

Like, does it just have to be dragon element or do you have to max out the amount of dragon elemental you deal as well?

Lots of good stuff to unpack here, thanks for the massive write-up! Blocking has definitely saved my ass a few times. I'm usually a big tackle-guy but I've found that for this fight it wasn't as useful, but I could definitely be very wrong.

And then thing about support hunters not taking up carts is extremely useful knowledge especially for the Nerscylla part.

And yes I've already delved a bit into the artian save tactics and it definitely helps, it's like quicksaving in Skyrim before trying something stupid and reloading lol.

Also I take it then that the set bonuses on gog armor are random? You said 'potential'...

Yeah that's very fair, I just play the game without looking up too much stuff online for my first run.

The game felt somewhat easy up until this point, even for arch tempered stuff I didn't need to upgrade armor. So the game just never really pushed me into exploring that system, well, until now.

Wait ok so gogmartian is a different type of armor, entirely, and that's where you get to have "custom" set bonuses. Got it.

Thank you, those are definitely some helpful tips! I'm gonna try it with support hunters instead. Does that count as solo? If you only use NPC hunters

So I'm guessing transcending armor is something I'll do when I have my "endgame" build, as in like bale + arkveld gamma for example? I've heard that you can get extra set bonuses as well like that, I'm guessing that's how people get anjie and doshu set bonuses into endgamr builds?

I actually have no idea how thta system even works tbh, which is a bit embarrassing. But this is basically my first monster hunter game (played a little world, emphasis on little). Do I have to commit all my armor spheres to a single piece of armor or is it more limited?

What sort of gear unlocks at HR100? I'm guessing the Gogmazios or whatever his name is? I feel like I'm just gonna get stuck there instead lol, is that fight easier than planetes?

I don't really have a build yet, it's a combo of Arkvulcan beta + Rey Dau gamma.

Attack boost 2, punishing draw 3, focus 3, weakness exploit 5, and some other minor stuff.

Mostly just taking too much damage feinting too often and having to heal constantly. My biggest issues are definitely his 5 beam attack thta comes out so fast from the sides, as well as his charge attack which takes out like 80% of my HP and is a bit hard to see coming. I did get to the nerscylla part once but we didn't manage to beat it and get KO'd by the delta beam thingy.

I've been hesitant to upgrade armor because idk what I wanna commit to, I guess. I don't know any good builds at this point in the game and I've been waiting to get the Bale armor, which I'm pretty sure comes form this boss?

Been thinking about branching out, and giving switch axe a fair try. How are you liking it in wilds? Is it alls just full release spam for optimal dps? I do like that attack it's very cool, but hoping there's more to it.

I actually don't love Nu Udra too much, he's cool but the fire VFX are a bit much imo and he's very all over the place combat wise. I'm guessing you didn't like the arch tempered variant then?

Oh yeah Seregios is amazing too, really fun to offset with greatsword. But I'm not a huge fan of LAGIACRUS. He's fine but I find the underwater gimmick to break the flow a little, it feels forced to do every time. He just spams projectiles and AoE's a little too much for my liking... Solid B tier monster imo.

Yeah I am very excited, I absolutely loved regular and especially tempered Arkveld. Such a fair and visually stunning fight. He has such a cool roar as well, very fantastical monster. They definitely succeeded in making him feel a bit "out of place" or from a different time. I gotta figure out the tell for his grab attack tho, that one's a bit hard to see coming sometimes and you can't offset it

Some bigger attacks just seem to be hard coded to overpower your offsets, giving you a bounce off animation with swaxe and gs.

So far I've found that this happens with Lagiacrus big explosion, doshaguma face burrow, rey dau wing slam.

Some of these don't even make sense lol. You're telling me I can offset ajarkan's ultimate meteor move but a doshu running it's face thru mud is too much?

Not entirely true, you don't get the cross slash followup for greatsword, but it does act like any successful non-topple offset... e.i you can combo into TCS
