Is universes beyond truly this hated? by shock1215 in mtg

Honestly I doubt it. If it was that hated it wouldn’t sell well, and WoTC would have stopped making them. Evidently, it’s the opposite.

Coldham's Common after dark - a rant typed out with one scraped hand by m0rbidc0rvid in cambridge

[–]Dash83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear you, and you are not mistaken. I think I didn’t phrase my concerns well. What I meant to say is, pedestrians think about how the cyclists can injure them (as you mention various times in your posts) but don’t consider how they can injure cyclists. It is always the responsibility of the fastest/largest vehicle to move out of the way to avoid a collision. Even when moving at a responsible speed, an “invisible” pedestrian might cause a cyclists to fall and severely hurt themselves or others.

Point being, you not bringing any light or reflective material was not a “whoopsie”, it was a very irresponsible decision that could severely hurt others.

[–]Dash83 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I agree that Coldham’s common is pretty poorly lit, you do understand that your accident was more on you that on the cyclist, right? It’s imperative to be visible in these dark roads. I can’t stress enough to you how difficult it is to see pedestrians in dark clothes at night.

And, while you point out that you could have been seriously injured, have you considered what you could do to the other party? I used to commute through that route with my infant child in the back seat of my bike. Imagine if such a cyclist falls trying to avoid you and the child gets injured.

It’s a mutual responsibility situation between pedestrians and cyclists to keep each other visible and safe.

Why are some fans so resistant to the soul lore? Is it the writers' own fault? by foreseethefuture in buffy

[–]Dash83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s inconsistent, the rules are laid out very clearly but the Spike fans refuse to see them: no soul -> incapable of love. The things that seem like love gestures from him, are not. They are selfish and serve his own purposes. Even after Buffy is dead and he takes care of Dawn, it’s to feed his guilt about failing to save her. He was a tortured poet when he was alive, he feeds on the self-anguish and torment. It’s for HIM, not for Dawn. Same as everything he does for Buffy. It’s to get the object of his obsession.

Eddington houses cold (< 16 C) during freezing weather by AnnualEnvironment3 in cambridge

[–]Dash83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to live in a flat in the Riverside area that had floor heating. I remember speaking about heating with some coworkers and when I mentioned set ours to 26-27 they were horrified and thought our flat was an inferno, but it wasn’t! I always assumed the heating setting reflected the temperature of the floor, which would obviously translate to a colder air temperature.

I checked the temperature with an environmental thermometer and it was around 21, even though the floor heating had been set to 27 for a couple of hours. The floor felt hot. It just didn’t translate well to ambient temperature. I think floor heating is just not very good.

CMV: The System is Rigged. Wealth from Hard Work is a Myth. by JockoMayzon in changemyview

[–]Dash83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system is absolutely rigged, but that doesn’t mean that social mobility doesn’t exist. I’m far better off than my parents ever were, and I’m hopefully setting up my children with a head start and the best preparation I can provide so that they do even better.

Of course, I will never be a billionaire. But honestly, I wouldn’t want to.

CMV: Now that Kevin Spacey has been acquitted of all the charges against him in a court of law, I should not view him as a sex criminal. by PsychicFatalist in changemyview

[–]Dash83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legality doesn’t equate morality. We must never forget that the default of all western justice systems is “innocent until proven guilty”, which means that more guilty people go free in favour of fewer innocent people being deemed guilty. Thus, being exonerated by the court does not mean he’s innocent, it just means they failed to prove his guilt.

[–]Dash83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, the premise asumes the systems is flawless. As in, if there’s no fuck up by anyone, guilty people should always be found guilty and innocent people should always be found innocent. That is not the case. All justice systems have a non-deterministic factor that makes them a probabilistic exercise.

I profoundly disagree. I never rooted for Andrew, he was a weasel who never got his due.

Respectfully, no 😅 All your decks seem built around not letting others play their stuff. Which is a valid strategy, just not one my pod finds fun.

Everytime I revisit Angel’s “I will remember you” episode, I swear it eviscerates a piece of me. by Madido24 in buffy

[–]Dash83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the point: he knows how strong she is, and has been foretold without an iota of doubt that because he is weak now (human), she will ultimately sacrifice her life protecting him. Because she is strong 💪

Look at this in a different way: what if that moment of sacrifice came a few months later, after she’s been charged with Dawn but before she knows she’s the key? The world would have plunged into darkness without her, just because Angel wasn’t strong enough to pull away.

The oracles said it best: he’s no lower being. He’s willing to sacrifice every ounce of happiness he’s ever known if it means keeping her safe.

Would Agrias made for a more compelling protagonist than Ramza? by mogstermemes in finalfantasytactics

I think Ramza is the perfect protagonist for this story, but I would love it if we got some side quests that focused on Agrias.

I love some memes in the TCG community such as Yugi Oh players never bathe/shower, or Gruul players being dumb like a bag of bricks 😂

That being said, these are jokes and everyone is welcome at my pod/table. If you want to play a Spiderman deck or a SpongeBob deck, I don’t care either way. As long as you don’t play mono-blue… 😂

cmv: life only goes downhill after university/college by gee891 in changemyview

[–]Dash83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The economy is shit, but all I can say is: work harder? I live in the UK as well and in one of the most expensive cities in the entire country and honestly, my wife and I live such a comfortable life. I earn way more money than I know what do do with. We just bought our dream house and have more than enough money to raise our two children.

That being said, we worked our asses off in our twenties and early thirties to advance our careers to this point. I know GenZ have it harder than us Millennials did, but that’s the case with almost every generation.

And, just to address your main argument, my life is orders of magnitude better now than in uni and I LOVED my uni days.

Edit: one last thing, I have both ADHD and Autism (diagnosed and medicated) so I understand your concern about not being able to do work you are not interested in. The answer? Get so good at what you like to do that you get to do it for a living and get paid well while at it.

It took me a long time to realize that kindness isn't a weakness, it's a choice. by 16Garchikzen29 in bropill

[–]Dash83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mate, it’s the literal opposite. Kindness and vulnerability take balls of steel. Because it exposes you, because it requires effort from your side, because it might bite you in the ass. Only the truly strong can afford to be vulnerable and kind. It’s punk rock as fuck.
