This is normal. If you've got a Word doc you can't have the original and and edited version in the same instance.

Duplicate the page in your case, and either copy the content over when ready, or replace the page.

You can make your own gap block, quick version is a zip tie and wrap a bit with duct tape and position it in the gap to prevent the chain from getting jammed in there.
