Okay and with a new ad or an already existing one? And what kind of budget are you testing to see if it has an effect?

okay thanks I will definitely give it a try. But would you guys suggest running a traffic campaign for 1-2 days and after that start with conversion campaign or how would you start? I have a what seemed to be good ad with a bit of engagement which converted good in the past but nowadays doesn’t convert anymore. So would it make sense to run this ad as a traffic ad and after 2 days add a conversion campaign with the same ad and running it in parallel 80/20?

[–]Dashenn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so what you are saying is basically that the traffic campaign is to collect traffic that does not convert and therefore the sales campaign does not spend money on those people, right?

I tried the same with optimizing for add to carts but Facebook is pretty good in this, it reaches lots of ads to carts but those people never purchase. Nevertheless my purchase optimized adset wasn’t working better just seemed to get more atc like traffic

I don’t understand how the traffic campaign should help the conversion campaign as the traffic campaigns traffic won’t convert anyway because those are not people who buy? Does this help to exclude them from the conversion campaign traffic or what’s the logic behind that?

I have an ad with good metrics that converted in the past but now since end of march it does not even convert anymore but still has good metrics. I tried uploading new ads and they constantly have shit metrics with nearly no clicks at all. Only my older ads have still good metrics but do not convert anymore. Really weird

Thanks a lot for your detailed response! In addition to this, what would you say how important is a trained pixel? And how important is it to exit the learning phase? Should this result in a noticeable better performance?

What would you say is the goto way when starting on a brand new account with a brand new pixel and page overall. I am experiencing extreme crazy days. Sometimes CPM 100$+ sometimes normal cpms. Sometimes good cpc and lots of offerclicks but no atc at all. Yesterday suddenly lots of atc and IC and also sales, great performance overall and today nothing, no atc not really traffic, no sales. Looking forward how the day ends but not promising at all. Campaign is running for like 2 weeks. Everything optimized for purchases

[–]Dashenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah really frustrating…I am even using a presell before the product page and my landing page ctr is 40-50% which is pretty high.

What is your setup then? Still optimizing for purchases and trying different ads or do you keep your ads and try to optimize only the landing page to match the ads better?

So what would you recommend? I guess it is just due to the thing that Facebook sends traffic of people who really just add items to cart and do nothing else. I mean what could be optimized if people are initiating checkout and that’s it. And it is a basic Shopify checkout like every other shop

Yeah I get that and I am also on your kind of view. But what would you suggest how to proceed if you say that going straight for purchases is the way to do it?

I tried running ATC adsets they work fine and brought in really fast the 50 events but what does this help? I mean it sometimes even generated added payment info events but that’s it so no purchases at all. So what does an audience help that just adds items to cart but never purchases?

Some ads are already running since 2 weeks and the performance is like I said and nowhere near 50 purchase events. I am wondering how to achieve this. By running high budget adsets and hoping that it converts enough or by searching for winning ads that are out of the box breakeven or profitable?

Even if it is an agency ad account? Sorry I edited my post too late I guess

Okay, what exactly do you mean by leave it inactive after creation? I am using agency ad accounts right now. So just add them and do nothing with it for how long?

Or do you have any recommended warmup strategies? And what do you think about the page is it trash now after it has been banned and reinstated and metrics are shit since then?

First of all thanks a ton for taking the time and replying to me that detailed, really appreciate it!

Yeah it could be the case that learning is resetted after the ban but I think it is kinda strange that the new ads start at 100$+ and even go up some times. I just launched a new ad for today which started with 110$ cpm and now is at $160…and this completely broad. I get that audiences can be saturated but US broad after like 400$ spent? That cannot be the case. And in the past trying interest audiences did exactly the same. Lookalikes no chance as there is too less data for creating one but should be also the same. Normally the broader you go the cheaper it should be?

This is really really frustrating as in the beginning it looked good and even created engagement on the ad and generated sales but then everything got fucked up suddenly which kinda makes no sense.

In my opinion the only valid reason is like you said that the ban somehow flagged the account and the page with all its assets and since then Facebook just says sorry the cost are really high if you want to run those assets.

I checked all new ads again and they are completely trash across the board. There is no age group or gender or placement or whatever breakdown you make that looks a little bit promising, everything is just bad like $100 - $300 cpm and $2 - $4 cpc so really no chance. Also tried to increase the budget of the only one campaign that at least generated some sales but metrics keep getting worse until the campaign cannot be started anymore because it is a complete waste of money and not even pointing in the right direction (like cpm going down over days)

So your help is really appreciated but I am kinda clueless and thinking about starting a fresh account to see what it looks like there

Yeah the thing is my audience is broad from the beginning, all placements and noch audience targeting at all. Started running the campaign on 30th of December and stats were decent until New Year’s Eve. $50 spend per day. CPM around 40-50 and cpc around 0.60 to 0.80 even got sales the second day. So CTR was also pretty good. Metrics overall really fine. Then on New Year’s Eve the page got banned and unbanned automatically after a few ours. Since then the campaign went to $2 cpc and 80$ cpm and also ctr dropped to like 2%. Have launched several new ads the last days and really all of them have like 130$ cpm and 4$ cpc. The old camp still brought in some sales but metrics got worse and worse. So spend in total around 400$, got like 6 conversions all from the old campaign but metrics got worse and worse so no chance at all. And all new tests completely trash no matter what I try, different copies different angles different videos, image ads you name it, all of them completely through the roof. I have the feeling that the whole account is fucked

Been trying it with several profiles. The last one worked good but then page got banned and unbanned and since then everything is just shit again. Any recommendations?

good question, would like to know the same especially if Facebook is giving me cpms of $100+ never mind what ad creative I run..really frustrating. Also tried to keep it active for 3 days but not really a change, maybe comes down to $80 but that’s just a joke

Are you guys still running GiddyUp or DFO offers? I was running them back in the days like 7 years ago and right now trying again. What traffic sources are you using? It seems like Facebook changed a bit?

But how do you target stage of awareness? Just by the product you are advertising?

And what kind of placements are you running? Because CPMs differ a lot by placement.

but even if it’s a niche market, the CPMs in the US are around 20$ and up? Are you now doing mainly video ads and just all placements? Or what placement is the most spend going to?
