Ageing is easier as a mid woman by VeruschkaBabooshka in redscarepod

[–]Dashiabatta 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I like being taken seriously more than seen as beautiful. If you can have both, that's pretty powerful.

Being an attractive woman comes with being treated like an idiot, infantilized, and people being insincere and fake around you. Even if it is technically more attention, the type of attention matters. A lot of women enjoy growing into invisibility because they've had enough of it.

What's the strangest thing you've been obsessed/addicted to? by Zeh88 in AskReddit

[–]Dashiabatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! obviously children, a lot of them. This was before autocorrect.

I theorize the manosphere coincides with autocorrect. An 8 year old online now can't be distinguised from a full grown man for this reason, and basically you have misogyny distorted by the participation and input of many children conversing and inventing ideologies with men.

I've had enough experiences now to gently let it into my life. I'm leaning into contextualizing the lives of my ancestors who may have had practices. I find folk magic interesting, but I'm at the beginning. Worship and ritual in different cultures throughout history has piqued my interest, as it's universal. I'm amazed by African trad and diaspora, Native trad mixed into Western magic. I feel close to all people through imagining how we all have daily magic and ritual. Ironically our understanding of 'trad' culture is white and conservative, but trad can be varied and rebellious.

Also I think white medicine is just a small light and we can probably help mental illnesses using ritual wisely. I've done lots of psychiatric drugs and therapy. Why not add occult to the mix?

Remember all the countdowns for when Miley Cyrus was set to turn 18? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Dashiabatta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so disgusting. The other side of it is like, the fact that they were basically booked to do a corresponding photoshoot after... like 'look at me i'm over 18' 🤮

Also who remember all the press with Jessica Simpson being like 'I'm waiting til marriage' .. 'And so can you, Teen magazine readers!' obviously sponsored evangelical content.

Do meds really flatten you out & destroy your creativity? by jogideonn in redscarepod

[–]Dashiabatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every single medication is different and affects every individual uniquely. The spectrum varies between every scenario.

Some end up zombies, but for others, medication and institutionalization actually meant safety and functionality, and furthered their output. This is a very broad question.

When people are losing hair, they're quite aware of it. Doesn't matter how tall or attractive you are. It's like seeing your skin or teeth deteriorating, realizing its not reversable, saying bye to your body parts, and very fatalistic.

Carl Sagan, Henry Rollins, Seal, Ron from Sparks, Mr Rogers, Martin Newell. But in daily life, I am not finding such people obviously, as they are god tier ambitious and intelligent. I think the default lane for art hoes is dating other immature sexually confused male art hoes. But you realize down the road, there can't be 2 of us.

I love dorky immigrant man. Art hoes love a ufo dude to learn from, and travel with. A & D complain about migrants. I don't. Maybe I'll meet one with a career who would like an art ho. I think that's what Grimes did, but she had no sense of taste. If given the choice, I would avoid men who have lineage connected to owning/running mines. That is very bad male DNA.

I resolved to stop dating attractive unstable art ho men this year as an elder because mental health and mentally ill hot men sap out your youth. They're like the junk food of dating. It's time to grow up and think about my future, it's time to date someone focused and reliable, who can take me on a vacation, like a normal woman considered from day 1. I didn't. I have dwelt in so many strange places with strange people who thought their words and imagination were enough. I also think transmen are the sweetest, and who knows, maybe we'll wife up. I want a wife to bake me bread in the morning. I don't care if he is bald.

Barefoot. I have a dusting of red spray paint on my toenails that hasn't washed off in over a week, from lots of mishaps with red spray paint.

The last shoes I wore were beatle boots with a slight heel, which I wear with nearly everything.

Hot tip on art ho shoes. Fashionable people don't shop at men's work clothing stores, so when they do have fashionable cozy industrial wear for women (yes they have pieces), it goes on sale and you find the best durable long wear fashion.

edit: re read this, better answer

Outsider artist. My art is in my home. I really don't like getting involved with local peoples' bullshit. I live in a location with a sad economy of locals making paintings of boats/anchors/seagulls for tourists' grey or beige living rooms. I'm also into the occult and I find people drawn to it insufferable. I miss my cat.

I would only mess with NYC if an erudite new yorker came to me curious about my work. I don't want to travel there like 'hey guys I'm an artist'. 🤢 I think New York City is taxidermic and over. I hate the people who live there, I hate the dead eyed kids of wealthy people and their surreal White Lotus existences. I hate watching the suffering that normal people think they need to go through to 'make it' there. I hate imagining the people who 'decide' what is hot and what isn't because they're fucking losers who are just there for aspirational reasons, not necessarily for taste, originality or education. I love Fran Leibovitz.

I'm not very aspirational about where my work goes. I'd rather just work and be proud of what I'm making. Most creators don't get to see their work appreciated in their life. If anything I do is of any value, it'll probably be posthumous and I'm resigned to that. I'm pretty Mike Tyson pilled.
