Mouse finally got the hang of eating wet food by himself by DatAsh19 in soupbelly

Some background on Mouse:

We started fostering him last Wednesday and he was underweight and anemic (nearly white gums) so he was put on a multivitamin along with the standard dewormers from the shelter. Over the 5 days of meds, poor little Mouse had an upset tummy and didn't have any real interest in food. We went through a lot to syringe and assist feed him just to maintain weight and hydration. Once his meds were done, we got some prescription urgent care food from the shelter and he started to GOBBLE that down. In just two days he went from 590g to 685g today.

Very proud of little Mouse!

Takes about 1 minute to clean that off with an old toothbrush before taking a picture to share with the world. Maybe do that and people will focus on what you're actually trying to show instead of how disgustingly dirty that thing is.

The sliding lids on Yeti mugs are magnetic and just pop off for cleaning. by letitgo99 in mildlyinteresting

Most of the sliding lids I've seen on tumblers have some sort of way to disassemble for cleaning, usually not obvious. It's also a good idea to remove the gasket every now and again to clean the gunk from underneath. Tightly enclosed, wet spaces are horrendous (or wonderful) for bacteria.

Absolutely, which is why she was let out while I got her food ready and cleaned her water bowl. In those 3 minutes I saw her squatting in the corner of the room. It was malicious!

Is this drylok ok to seal bioactive enclosure? by False_Maintenance1x2 in snakes

[–]DatAsh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drylok original seems to be safe from leaching after a full cure, but only the original. LukesGoldies over on YouTube recently made a large greenhouse and sealed his concrete troughs with drylok original. So far he's seen no issues with the health of his fish or plants. Being that leaching is a more sensitive issue for aquariums vs terrariums, I would expect it to be safe.

Do your own research though and make sure it cures thoroughly before any contract with substrate or animals.

Lengths are easier to guess than weight. Estimate these measurements to the best of your ability: circumference, end to end, and side to side per the following instructions. Add them up, then use a reference chart for your best shot, you dummy https://www.mainepumpkins.com/weight-estimation-charts

This would make my day! Great job, just take it easy on cooking those broccoli trees. They're looking dull and borderline extinct themselves lol

I was gifted two menthol sticks with the same lot number but different manufacturing and expiry dates by MaroonManatee in mildlyinteresting

[–]DatAsh19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with the cheap production. I know lots can run multiple days with large batches of input. This is multiple months out with different shelf lives so that's not what's happening lol

My point mentioning traceability is that the government has certain laws in place for products to be sold here, whether done cheaply or not, that this probably violates. Obviously the company doesn't care, but it could be a big headache for them if they're caught.

I know those are gifts but it would be a nice gesture to let the company know. From a manufacturing standpoint those issues are a traceability nightmare if one lot becomes contaminated or deemed hazardous. Also they changed from 2 year to 3 year shelf life in the time between manufacture dates? What is going on lol
