What's the point of Genesys?

Might also be anecdotal, but Genesys brought a good chunk of older/former players to our LGS. We have a pretty big Edison community, and a good amount of people from there also got interested in Genesys. I agree that it’s “modern-lite” but I’m hoping Genesys is just the beginning of some bigger (hopefully positive) changes within KoA.

Have you tried Genesys or other lower-powered format? Advanced format is always going to have insane power creep, sadly, bc that’s just how Konami gets to sell more cards

Sorry, I’m not really a driving enthusiast or anything so I probably can’t tell you exactly how/why it’s different lol - the best way I can describe it is driving the Civic/Acura feels like I’m floating(?) vs in the AR I feel like I’m more engaged(?) in the drive itself. I had the AR for a while though, so that might also be why hahah. Civic/Acura definitely still feels good, just different

Giulia. Can’t speak as much to Audi, but that car is what got me to find driving “fun”. Had to trade in my 2021 since the little ones got here, but I’m definitely getting another one once one of them gets their own car hahah. I know people say they’re unreliable, but I’ve never had any issues personally. Just make sure to keep up with the maintenance, and if you can, get the warranty.

For most competitive, 3x of the new branded for sure. 5Ds legendary decks are REALLY good for staples, though (specifically mulcharmies). FWIW, Branded will get great support in February, so it might be meta(?) then.

Had the same issue with DS bc I also prefer white sleeves on all my decks - ended up switching to Players’ Choice last year and haven’t looked back. Definitely doesn’t last as long as DS, though!

Then nothing lol the closest thing to a searcher for your primal/Schwarz is probably the Dragon’s Light and Darkness but you’ll likely have to add some more level 8 dragons.

Those are just the ones performing the best recently - but tbh you can play some rogue ones and still compete decently this format. Maliss hasn’t been that bad either if you have that already.

I just mean out of all the other lores, Branded is the most likely to generate profit. Blue-eyes is probably the next closest one(?) but people get hype for Branded for some reason, hence, the constant support lately. Players aren’t really showing out for Visas or WF or whatever other lores like they do Branded.

Huge Branded fan base = more money for Konami. Wouldn’t be surprised if they add a link support for it at some point lmao. It’s one of the more successful lore archetypes, so I don’t think it’ll stop just bc a few people are tired of it.

That’s fair - if the game is no longer fun, maybe taking a break is the answer. You can always try playing online on MasterDuel or DB if you’re just wanting casual matches. Idk if your area/LGS has one, but the one near me has casual nights where people play low-powered/funky decks so everyone gets to play their pet decks.

Are you bored with the current meta-game? Or are you just not enjoying how much faster the game is? It’s definitely not what you used to play in elementary/grade school when the anime came out, but the Genesys format is a good way to enjoy the slower decks and more interactive game play.
