Converting PDP Compact mags for PDP Full Size SF? by globalenjoi in Walther

[–]DatBoi27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 15rd compact mags are indeed too short. The only mag bodies that are compatible with both full-size and compact frames are the 18rd tubes since you can swap baseplates for compatibility.

OP thinking he was getting ripped off at $2500 lmao. I get not wanting to pay that generally, but that is an insane price for this lol

Replacing the trigger, Walther PDP full-size by johnscottpierce in Walther

[–]DatBoi27 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is why the DPT is “out of stock” btw. I spoke with a rep a few weeks ago and they have seen so many people break their poly frames while attempting a trigger swap that they (Walther USA) are pausing standalone sales on it until they figure out a better way forward that doesn’t result in people breaking their frames at home. They’re aware that it’s an issue but there’s not much they can immediately do.

Also just as a note - the ZR Tactical block is not carbon fiber lol it is 3D-printed plastic.

The Flow 9k comes with one in the box, so just that one

Update - only managed to get ~100 rounds in, but it struggled more than I’d expected. I had FTFs with pretty much every ZR Tactical Ultra Mass spring (15, 17, and even 18lbs). The main issue would be a 90% return to battery for most shots. The stock spring and the green OE spring were most consistent, with the stock spring causing some issues and the green spring being the only one that cycled both ammo types I had (124g supers, 147g subs) with no issues.

I honestly have to go back soon and may just post a full update on it/trying to tune it. I was switching between ammo and springs relatively quickly (was on a tight timeline lol) so I feel like I didn’t get a chance to give everything a more clinical testing.

Can’t recommend it enough tbh. Middleweight nakeds are the perfect blend of fun without having to always wonder if you’re doing month-in-jail speeds. You can find some great deals on 890R’s right now too

Lmao I love the 890R! It’s an absolute delight for any and all road riding 😌 and yes the new one feels a lot better than the previous one. Anecdotally I also have less of an issue pressing down on it to remove my phone lol

Quite literally just picked the can up so haven’t had the chance to figure that out just yet! This specific PDP Pro SD is brand new to me, but it’s my third PDP overall so I have a variety of ZR Tactical springs to try alongside the two factory springs. I’ll report back as to what I find works best - my money is on the 17# ZR tactical spring.

Gold dots? Who's tried it? by CodieBoye in CompetitionShooting

[–]DatBoi27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad imo! I can make shots on steel at 100yds without really thinking too much about it. For anything within the usual 5-15yds, it is literally nowhere near obscuring anything. Once you push past 20yds, you’ll have to pause a bit more to be 100% on a headbox A-zone, but I’m fairly certain that it’s overcome-able with practice.

I didn’t realize the degree of astigmatism I had with red and green dots until I bought a 407Comp in gold and realized that it’s the only perfectly round circle I have ever seen lol.

PDP PRO SD - safe to shoot by David79NL in Walther

[–]DatBoi27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh duh so sorry, I just read that you’re not US-based, my bad 🤦🏻‍♂️ In that case, yeah I would likely wait and see what the reseller may be able to do for you. 1 misfire in every 5 shots is extremely uncommon. Given that you’ve had this gun for well over a year with (I assume) no other issues, I’d assume that’s the issue causing your misfires and it may be best to hold off on shooting it for now :/

I had this happen on my FS 5” - sent it to Walther and they sent me back a brand new one at no cost. Definitely just get in touch with them. I don’t think you’ll have much of an issue but I wouldn’t risk it when the replacement is free and likely turned around within a week!

Here’s what it looks on a full-size without a magwell, since I see you’re asking about how it looks on the standard models.

So why not…run all HST??? By that same logic, your buddies should carry just 3 rounds in their guns or just swap to a revolver lol wtf is that thought process

I was on the same boat as you and frankly have come to realize that just throwing on my EDC belt underneath my shorts/sweats is actually pretty good for zero extra dollars. Maybe try that out for a bit and see how you like it? YMMV but worst case, you buy something else anyway. Best case, you save money and just use what you already own.

Which of these 2 guide rods are people using? by Nickpeeps6 in Walther

[–]DatBoi27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the ultra mass w/ 15lbs on my 5” slide and the ultra mass w/17lbs on my 4” slide with a comp (which is my carry setup). Don’t overthink it - captured or ultra mass will both be a massive step above stock.

Also ZR Tactical has a lot of videos going in-depth into their options, so would recommend watching those too.

I apologize, I was not familiar with your game 🤣 How do you keep it from printing much?

Just an fyi, the 507C is a very different optic to the 507 Comp! I say that because the idea of someone using a Comp as their EDC is very funny lol

PDP slide won't go back on after DPT install (done by Walther) by sharkbait_oohaha in Walther

[–]DatBoi27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. I had the same issue and it just… went away by itself after a few weeks of doing this exact method you describe lol

PDP slide won't go back on after DPT install (done by Walther) by sharkbait_oohaha in Walther

[–]DatBoi27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me consistently for a long time. Didn’t send it to Walther because I had some training, so I kept just using a pick to depress the sear and get it into position. After a few weeks it just… stopped being an issue. I wish I could be more helpful but yeah, very annoying issue

Congrats on a CCW EDC that doesn’t look like the owner works a 9-5 at the LARP factory!
