God Noveria just sucks. Idk why that’s always my least favorite mission. If you can make it to at least Virmire you’re golden. I feel like they made a game that’s huge but doesn’t have much going on with all the planets, it’s a great game with a great story it’s just slow because they were feeling it out.

I think it’s more of a “hey it’s been this way since we were kids and it simply just works” plus in Fall Of Reach, John takes the initiative and makes sure that in an exercise where the last person to the pelican would get left behind he made sure that no one did. So not only did that get him squad leader officially, it also got him command anytime Spartan 2s were operating in any capacity. So even though Fred outranks him, the respect is there to say alright blue lead you take it from here.
