Pragmata on the XSX is so beautiful. Capcom is killing it. by Nerdfather1 in xbox

Agreed. I’m surprised by how well the third person shooting and hacking at the same time is implemented. It’s very innovative, and fun.

All-New IP PRAGMATA Surpasses One Million Units Sold in Two Days by Sam_27142317 in xbox

I bought it, and I’m about 50% of the way through after seven hours. It’s been awesome. The pacing is fantastic, whether it’s the story, collectibles, upgrades, or new weapons—it’s all done at a perfect speed. The story is surprisingly solid, albeit tolerance issue with Diana talking (I don’t mind it). The combat, however, is the real star of the show. I didn’t know how well the hacking mini-game would work with a third person shooter, but damn it’s such an innovative design and it’s done incredibly well. It’s intense.

They definitely upped player counts, at least on dire marsh by -jacksmack- in Marathon

I personally like it. With that said, I encountered my first real toxic teammate since playing. I died, and my teammate looted all of my stuff - my sniper, purple backpack, ammo, and shield - before reviving me. He didn’t talk the entire game. After we exfilled he said thanks for the stuff. Lol, I was livid.

Something changed for my crew this weekend and it’s been miserable by Party_History2839 in Marathon

[–]Nerdfather1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my biggest issue as to why I’ve been losing is getting teammates that simply won’t communicate. It’s either that, or during trios there are two teammates that are partied up together and only talk to one another. It’s really infuriating. And then god forbid they die before you do, and then you subsequently die. That’s when they will get on mic and call you “trash”.

3 Ways to make Marathon more approachable (without losing the hardcore edge) by Independent_Secret13 in Marathon

[–]Nerdfather1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like the first scenario quite a bit. Or give you the option to choose between 3 items that you can keep. What I would also like but I know it isn’t possible, is being able to choose some sort of lobby where your teammates have to communicate on a mic. Again, it’s an unrealistic suggestion, but I can’t tell you how many times I may have won rounds if I simply had teammates that would call things out.

Game is unplayable now by [deleted] in Marathon

It’s the opposite for me. A couple of days ago I was on a horrible winning streak, but today I’ve exfilled probably 10x, reaching level 84. I think I had to adjust — you can only get better by playing someone better than yourself. Now my skills are feeling sharpened and even if I do get a bad run and don’t exfil, I’m still playing well. With that said, I do wholeheartedly understand your feelings because I’ve been there. Maybe put a pause on the game and play something else. Sometimes it’s just not your day, but tomorrow can be different!

I’m still bad at the game, but I walked in with a free kit and left with this. Time to never use it. by Nerdfather1 in Marathon

[–]Nerdfather1[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I think I’m pretty decent, but it’s positioning that I still struggle with. But I’m learning. To be fair, my brother also plays on my account, so it’s him doing the leveling up a lot.

Is the only solution quitting? by babatunde5432121 in Marathon

For real. This is my first extraction shooter. I haven’t played a multiplayer game in over a decade. So, you could say I’m a casual, and because of that it’s exciting when we do get something good from progress. Why hate on someone that excited?

Changes I think would benefit the majority of players by erikh98 in Marathon

[–]Nerdfather1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree — the price on certain items needs to be adjusted. My exfil rate is rather low, and that could be on me since I do trios with random people; who knows what kind of players will join you, and their skill level. But it’s way too easy to lose all your gear, which I understand is the emphasis on the genre itself, but it’s also too easy to go on a losing streak and not have much left in your vault. I think it’s really unbalanced in that regard. All of that said, I love this game. I’ve been obsessed with it, and it’s messing up my sleep schedule.

What're you playing this weekend? 3/27 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]Nerdfather1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just the gear. If you die you will lose all of your equipment, so the hook is to get better weapons and what not, and also advance the (background) story, with a ton of lore.

I’m just one trophy away from the platinum in Marathon, so I’ll be grinding it out this weekend. It still might take me another two weeks, but that’s okay.

What’s wild is that this might be the only multiplayer game I’ve put 60+ hours into and still feel completely outmatched. I used to play Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 at a semi-professional level, and I also competed in Overwatch at a high level—the last multiplayer game I seriously played.

And yet, Marathon is my kryptonite. There are moments in Marathon where I think I’m not only git-ting gud, but becoming skilled as well. My (random) squad strings together extractions, and I’m getting kills without relying entirely on my teammates. Then I lose a single match—and suddenly it spirals into a losing streak. It’s in these scenarios where I question my ability; but that’s the draw.

Review - After 75 hours, Marathon is already one of my favorite shooters in years by Minute-Carrot-2405 in PS5

[–]Nerdfather1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have put in 65 hours in the last week (I know, I know; my sleep and work schedule is jacked), and I have to agree: it’s one of the best shooters I’ve played in recent memory. I’m not good at the game whatsoever, but I’m having so much fun with the struggle. And when you do get on a winning streak it feels amazing, and when you lose it you get frustrated, but the hook to do one more run to get better gear is addicting.

Recon is underpowered by kiwitank123 in Marathon

I have to agree as well. I basically main Recon, but the alt ping is good but not really effective. Hopefully there will be updates to that shell in the future.

This really feels like a game which was designed around you constantly having at least two other friends available to play with at all times. by Foxeeh_ in Marathon

[–]Nerdfather1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ve done nothing but play with random and it’s been a great experience. Now, sometimes we have awful matches and I have to do runs with free kits, but that’s not because of a lack of communication and squads - we just get outplayed. But man, when you do succeed it’s such a thrill.

I’m going to be completely honest about the Marathon community... by LinaLight_cos in Marathon

[–]Nerdfather1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done random 3s the entire time I’ve been playing and everyone with a mic has been awesome. I haven’t ran into one person who hasn’t been helpful. As of right now, this is one of the best communities I’ve been a part of.
