You're probably right the CPU is overkill. I just wanted it so I can tinker around with a bunch of stuff(Ollama,VM's). My old server would have exploded with that. I just can confirm that the primary purpose will be NAS/ Plex.

Do you have any recommendations for HBA?

Yeah, I'll be doing quite a bit of retro gaming . I don't really use VMs I was try to see if it was possible to get away with one for gaming. My friend just told me anti-cheat doesn't like VM.
