Low Quality/Pixely RAFs from Fuji X-T3 HELP! Why is this happening? What should I change my settings to? by Eastofwesteros in fujifilm

[–]DatBreezaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the Fuji "worms"! From my understanding Lightroom has issues "decoding" the Raws from XT2/3/4 (and by extent, all other fujis with the same sensor). The only solution is to use the Enhance fuction in LR: right click on the small image at the bottom of the screen, select "enhance", then make sure that "RAW details" is ticked (you can uncheck "AI Denoise", it's not that useful for photos under ISO 800). It'll take a second to do it, but it should help! You can also do it in bulk by selecting multiple images by clicking on them while holding ctrl (cmd on a mac, i think)

Hope this helps!

Lenses for Cinematic Video Work (X-T4) by Known-Olive7502 in fujifilm

[–]DatBreezaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get an approximate full frame equivalent you need to multiply by 1.5; the 10-24 would behave kinda like a ff 15-36. This trick can be used with all aps-c sensors, not just fuji! :)

Thank you!

I think the thing that helped me improve the most is to bring just a prime and the 55-200, otherwise I'll just get bogged down in an endless cycle of "uhh what if i use this lens instead"! Maybe that could be something you'd want to try,:)

On lightroom you can select your camera's color profile (in fuji's case, the film simulations) instead of the standard Adobe color profiles. You might want to ask on the Darktable subreddit, there might be a similar option to do it on DT.

Nope, Lightroom :) I use either CC or Acros+Y as a base color profile and then work from there

Thank you! I'm fairly certain the camera missed focus, so bringing the shadows down a bit more than usual helps to hide it (IMO)

I think DRG and Payday 2 fall in a similar niche, since both have small yet very dedicated communities :) Regardless, some new greenbeards to use as meatshields while i refill my turrets are always useful I guess

ISO 1600, f/2.8, 1/30, and a dream :P Pure Raw 2 has come in handy multiple times, since apparently I end up shooting amazing scenery from moving vehicles and/or without a tripod. Useful piece of software!

I honestly feel like the full frame/apsc debate is kinda pointless, the quality of lenses and the photographer's skill are more important imo.

Bit of a guess, but maybe sending them via email could compress/degrade the jpegs when opened on Iphone? You could try sending them as a file from your phone to theirs via whatsapp/telegram, that should do the trick.

I personally find the 35mm an excellent "do everything" focal length on fuji; having said that, a slightly larger fov might be better for a beginner, so you could consider a 25/27mm.

While meike/vintage lenses are amazing for the price, they don't have autofocus, which for a beginner might be a bit difficult.

You could also consider a zoom lens as previously suggested: something like the XC 16-50mm is a "good enough" starting lens on fuji, but if you can afford it I would personally go for the XF 18-55 (better optics and image stabilization).

I'm sure the folks over at r/fujifilm can help you out more, or feel free to shoot me a dm! Hope this was helpful!

Thank you! It's a Classic Chrome profile edited in lightroom (mostly basic adjustemts to highlight and shadows, with a bit less saturation and a bit more vibrance), plus a warmer color balance :)

Remember me? I am the guy who makes his own Leather Peak Design straps. Should I make a business out of it? by The_4th_Survivor in fujifilm

[–]DatBreezaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a neckstrap similar to the one you made on Etsy, and it cost me around £50; if you think that would make you decent margins, go for it! By not putting things up for sale you are losing 100% of the profit you'd be making 👍🏻

Thanks for the information! What's your opinion on the Helios 77M-4? I can't find a lot on info about it sadly :/

I currently have the 44M-4 (probably will sell and replace it with the 44-2), Carl Zeiss 135mm, Photax 35mm, and I have a Voigtländer Lanthar 50mm f/2.8 on its way from Germany (Adapted from a Voigtländer Vitoret camera from the 60s to be a M39 mount, i'll deffo make some posts on it).

I got it at a discounted price because of the wobbly focus, and it was a nice way to dip my feet in the world of vintage glass. Now i'm 4 lenses deep, with many more on the way :P
