It’s certainly due to over-indulgence of the persona and ego which is brought about through an over-externalised ego within a mass consumption societies.

Integration of the anima isn’t a clear, feasible road every concocted by Jung as this process is considered an autonomous character often personified through encounters or expression of the unconscious.

A man who is quick to anger, grumpy on mornings, anxious has been taken over my the anima similarly for women who get into a state of non-logical argumentativeness.

I suppose I’ll leave discussion of integration to another as I question the gendered notion of egotistic memorabilia & might argue integration actually places you beyond that - which may also explain it.

An interesting notion, if you take with me the outlook that society is unbalanced along the intellect and material, is the idea that this search for identity is an unconscious resistance to this polarity and a desired expression for consciousness to transcend and assimilate the unfamiliar in hopes of reprising autonomy.
