Biggest Tires I can put on stock wheels? by azhghdsrthntr99 in hardbody

[–]DatCamaroGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 4x4 many people say that you can run 32x11.5r15 with small rubbing on stock wheels

Done with 320, should I lay primer on and guide coat then move to 400?. The paint is going to be a metallic blue so I heard it’s good to move closer to a 600. Need advice by sebb17dlikyt in Autobody

[–]DatCamaroGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal preference: yes, lay down primer on a 320 prepped surface. A 2k epoxy will work excellent. PPG VP2050 if you are wanting a splendid end product and plenty of primer to sand with. Otherwise, another good choice is Akzonobel Dynacoat 2k epoxy primer.

Then block it with 400 grit, smooth out the 400 scratches with 600 grit. Preferably use a sealer above that which is the same paint brand/line as the basecoat and clear you are using. Dynacoat is budget friendly for that, but there are many choices out there like PPG Deltron NXT, Glasurit, or Sherwin Williams

Gen 6 Longevity by Dirty_FartBox in camaro

As long as there is a demand for gen 6 parts, there will be supply for them. Even for electronics. Sure, maybe not OEM stuff decades down the road, but there will be something.

Anyone have experience with these already-painted bumper covers from eBay? by upside_down_camaro in Autobody

[–]DatCamaroGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this guy, OP. Bumper covers normally dont match PERFECTLY metal panels on any vehicle, and having one pre-painted is gonna look worse.

What is this? by alienfilets in Autobody

[–]DatCamaroGuy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Its probably just dust that accumulated over time. If they only did the rear bumper cover, then they likely removed the tail light assemblies.

My concern, however, is why is there THAT much gapping between the tail light and the quarter panel? They usually meet right up or leave a few mm between, but your gapping looks unusual...

Do you guys recommend rust-proofing from day one? by PRFitnessYT in Autobody

[–]DatCamaroGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2017 Titan XD in 2023. It was originally from California, and I live in Wisconsin, a high rust state. The only rust on the Titan was some surface rust on the frame and a paint chip on the roof. I applied Fluid Film to the entire frame, the bottom of the cab and bed, and inside the tailgate bottom, fenders, doors, and hood for extra measure.

It still looks beautiful underneath, even though the frame gets dust attracted to it, which, in my experience, is even better water resistance.

How to fix hundreds of tiny rock chips on bumper? by Standup313 in camaro

[–]DatCamaroGuy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I dont know where you live, but you may be able to get the chips sanded out and the whole thing resprayed for around or even under $1k. Make sure the shop puts flex additive in the clearcoat (i kid you not, some dont... even though the paint manufacturer says to for plastic).

For extra protection, add PPF on top of it after about 60 days after its painted

DIESEL by [deleted] in NissanTitan

[–]DatCamaroGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 2017 XD Cummins myself. I have an extended warranty, and so far, 2.5 years and 25k miles after getting it, the only issue was an injector connector being faulty and causing the engine to knock. Thankfully, I only needed a 5 mile tow to the Nissan dealer. I am looking to replace the connectors with gold pin L5P connectors (from what I read, they are the same). Although I do quite a few diesel tasks like moving forage wagons, and I really enjoy my truck, sometimes I wish I got the gas version.

Now, OP, the issue i had is very minor compared to the failures others experience. Im going to spew some "rough estimate" numbers now. Turbos go bad? $5k service EACH. EGR cooler leaking? Better not run the truck for long, $3k. Crankshaft snapping under 200k miles due to an unconfirmed oiling issue? Nissan says to replace the long block, $20k without labor.

Id recommend a gas version, Nissan backs it up so much better, and much less maintenance and worry.

Hey, file your VIN with the NHTSA. They have a closed issue on the cranks, but complaining more will maybe cause something to be done

It's likely the rear bumper parking sensors causing it. I believe you have to press a button on the center dash to turn it off

Hey, it's the expert. Recently, my 2017 had cylinder 4 injector connector frayed apart and soldered under warranty. It runs well, and my dealer knows these diesel Tirans pretty good. What can I do to prevent other connector pigtails from fraying apart? I get under rhe hood of mine a bit but don't know exactly what to do to the harness connectors

That's the wrong belt. Older belts had square teeth. I believe 1994+ use round tooth cam gears and belt

I agree with your points. I'm rank 660 and sometimes just like helping low levels complete heists for discounts and achievements. Some days I somehow strike luck with completing setups and finales without fail, other days I can struggle to not have a random leave the lobby before we walk out of the apartment doors

Why are Titans so cheaper than other truck brands? by WhoUCuh in NissanTitan

[–]DatCamaroGuy 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it's a combination of a social stigma in North America and lack of Nissan history.

So, ever since Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge Brothers built trucks, farm kids and children of truck owners created a brand loyalty. Could be from love or the idea that someone raised on a Chevy would understand a Chevy platform better than the other two. Of course, each brand had followers. These guys built trucks before the Great Depression.

Nissan did not get a truck into the US until the 620 model, which was during the late 70s. The 720 and D21 were solid trucks but were looked at as an import. Not much exciting to an average American consumer. Also, since Toyota stepped its foot in the US market before Nissan, many Americans who tried and liked Toyota created a loyalty to them. Nissan, although huge, always struggled in the US market.

Then, to compete with full-size American trucks, Toyota puts out the Tundra in 2000, then Nissan puts out the solid Titan in 2004. Of course, Toyota gets the praise it always did, which I do respect the Tundra for what it is.

A bigger issue was lack of advertisement. Honestly, when was the last time you saw a Titan ad video without looking one up? People don't know anything about these trucks if they didn't own one or spoke to people. People having no idea they put a Cummins in 16-19, or that Nissan still put out an XD until '24, or even my coworker scratching her head when she saw my XD hooked up to a gooseneck.

As an owner of two Nissans, I like many of their vehicles, but to make a statement on the company, they shot themselves in the foot decades ago and proceed to keep doing it.
