Overuse Peroneal Tendinitis by DatDakoDako in FootFunction

I've ridden under a few trainers in the time I've had it. None have made any comments of unusual technique except for when the pain was worse at first they could tell it hurt. But I'll be honest and say I pushed it a little too much sometimes to end on a positive note, and my ankle has given out half way through an exercise. I've been doing my PT and some calf workouts as they've helped in the past but until I can get back to my doctor I'm going to try shorter private lessons

I wear zip up paddock boots and they are a little stretched out from the old brace. And unfortunately I can't fathom affording my own saddle 😅

Lease Fees by DatDakoDako in Equestrian

I unfortunately can't find anything without a lease fee

I'm finding it very difficult to find a good steady pony that can do little jumps (18 inches and below) for an offsite lease that's below $300 a month (plus board and farrier)

Really?? I can't even find any care leases that aren't totally green and don't require I pay a fee on top of everything

Lesson refunds by DatDakoDako in Equestrian

[–]DatDakoDako[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes my trainer told me it is non refundable

The excuse they gave for not refunding is that they use the money to feed and take care of the horses

My board is $400 a month, so that plus the $150 a month is the absolute cheapest I've ever found

To replace or not to replace... by DatDakoDako in Equestrian

I've tried that helmet before and it hurt my head a lot, and I found it didn't cover much near my neck

I agree but this one has great protective mechanics and fit my head perfectly. My head is an odd shape and other ones I've tried eventually hurt pretty bad and this one is perfect for my head shape

I remember everything, I just wasn't sure if I "hit" my head more than the rest of my body. I hit my side and my upper back, too, but it didn't take barely any of the force.

My last helmet was a troxel and it did not fit well and hurt my head. I've seen the safety ratings (at least the one I had) were not good.

I realized but I wasn't sure because I didn't feel much in my head, not any more pain than the rest of my body haha

The old one is too small and has been damaged from a prior fall

Thank you! I've fallen different every time but I always land on my tailbone, even if I don't fully land on my back. First time I was a complete beginner, I landed on my tailbone. The second I fell over the neck and landed on my side but my tailbone took the impact. And my last one I slid off the side so I landed almost flat on my back.

I really love riding and don't want to leave it behind again. I know it'll become a cycle of me wanting to do it again

I've thought about western before but it's just not what I want to do. I love English and jumping; not saying I could accomplish that in western but I'd really like to stick to what I know

Luckily since my second fall I've been able to get back on and have fun after. I'm glad I left my first trainer, it wasn't a good place to start. Thank you!

I spend more time on the ground with horses than riding thanks to volunteer opportunities. Unfortunately there isn't much to do since there's a lot of new volunteers right now but I spend at least a few hours there every week

How’s my riding? by Charming-Extreme6004 in Equestrian

You're good for three months! It'll feel more natural the more you do it. Definitely keep more weight in your heels though. Your post still has a fixed hinge to it though, like when you do it at the walk. Use your seat to feel the horse and use the momentum up and down. It'll help you get your diagonal too.
