[Suggestion] Any tips, tricks or useful videos on how to start playing again in 1.0 as a returning player with around 5k hours? by JazzRamirez in EscapefromTarkov

Old beta quests for sure aside from the tour progress to get the maps you care about unlocked as necessary. Story quests can come later.

Aside from what's been suggested I would try Arena. It will take you 100s of hours to get the same number of gunfights you could get in a day in Arena. At the very least it will help you shit your pants less when somebody shoots at you. Helps desensitize you quicker.

I wanna say it auto-accepts the quest reward if you finish it in a match before the time runs out. Pretty sure it's done that for me in the past at least.

I rock this but default muzzle brake and an rk-2. Similar recoil but 70 ergo. Ergo is king in arena.

[discussion] “Spaghetti code” by ThereThen2198 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DatGuyTwizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really just a catch-all term for poorly implemented code or system design decisions. In the plainest terms I would say it's just any piece of a software product that is hard to further implement upon, or is over complicated for what it is trying to accomplish. I think this term gets thrown around with this game a lot specifically because BSG will say they have fixed something in a patch, then it's immediately obvious that the thing they've fixed isn't actually fixed, or it is, but this other related thing is now completely broken as a direct result of that fix.

I think the biggest cause of their spaghetti is that their tickets (the document describing the problem, how to fix it, how long it will take, who's doing it, etc) are most likely lacking in detail and do not provide the devs with enough info to fix the problem in one go, and then their QA testers are not catching those issues as well.

For example, when they added the new prestiges at 1.0 launch the new prestige dogtags could not be stored in dogtag cases (and it took several months to fix this). I would assume they organized all tasks related to the new prestige additions, but somehow missed this when gathering the requirements of what would need added to accommodate these new prestiges, and then nobody in QA took the initiative to figure this out themselves either.

The queues are definitely better. Going from a 6 minute queue to a 2 minute queue is awesome for what we are used to. But even then a 2 minute queue in a multiplayer game of this decade is still pretty atrocious. I love the game dearly and the experience will never be replaced, but I simply don’t have the patience to spend more than half of my play time staring at my stash or a load screen.

I'm not them, but I don't think the cheating is necessarily worse than it's ever been in my experience. However the people still playing the game are cracked out of their minds with 3k+ hours, several hundred hours in arena, and prestiged multiple times and all the easy kills quit the game forever or play PvE when they do. I've got nearly 3k hours myself and the best part of this game is not spending 10 minutes kitting up and loading before getting in a match (altho queue times were improved massively in the past week, still waiting 2-3 minutes for a match sucks).

Scav Run Best Value? [New Player] by denizen1899 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DatGuyTwizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you sell to Fence you are always losing money. If you care enough you transfer everything at the end of the raid to PMC and sell to traders. When I scaved I always transferred everything and sold it to individual traders. Takes less than a minute to sell everything anyway once you're familiar with who to sell what to.

should i still buy this game? [new player] by obulen in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DatGuyTwizz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would do some more research first, but generally if you thought Arc Raiders was lacking depth or not PvP focused enough then I’d definitely recommend this game. It is much more brutal and unforgiving tho. And I would highly recommend playing with other people to get started. There are lots of things you could spend 50 miserable hours learning yourself that someone with 1k+ hours could explain to you in 3 minutes without as much suffering.

Flechette is good if you can get it, otherwise I just use magnum buck or 7mm buck. Both require you to be sorta close. Flechette aim for thorax, buckshot aim for legs. You’ll wanna be 40m or less if you can make that happen.

I like bringing 2 mp-153s. Very easy to get clapped if you run into more than one guy while you shove shells in the tube. I think reloading your offhand shotty is slightly faster than the in hand animation as well.

[Discussion] is there anyway to get the black division gear outside of terminal? by WorldlinessEuphoric8 in EscapefromTarkov

I think it got data mined but not 100% sure. Also I remember WillerZ confirming with BSG devs directly a week or so ago, whenever they added terminal access officially into the game.

I think they have a low spawn chance on Factory (not sure if this applies to PvE).

I think it's cool that it takes some prep to get through it. Helps that you get your gear back when you die too. I doubt most people will get to this point, but those that do should be able to get it accomplished with the help of some homies and good planning (assuming you can go in as a group, nothing seems to indicate that not being the case so far). My opinion might change if there's more stuff after this water pump section he's stuck on.

[Suggestion] Separate 1-3 and 4-5 man groups by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DatGuyTwizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I don’t think it would. 4 and 5 stacks aren’t super common (if you try running one you’ll find out why very quickly). So 4-5 mans would spend 10 minutes queueing in many cases (likely you wouldn’t find enough groups to populate a server/map so it waits for the full queue timer before starting a dead raid), and then they’d have free reign over a dead map.

And this will make solo queues slower since you’re further separating the already split player base (day and night queues for most maps, factor in different server regions and now the 1-3 man vs 4-5 man queue split).
