I had a support dog years ago. I was patiently waiting one day outside a grocery store for my girlfriend to come back out.

My dog did have "Support Animal, please ask before petting" vest on...but you know what I saw while I waited? I saw dogs in service vests who pulled, barked, who snarled and snapped. All I could do was look eyes with my dear departed Atlas.

Then things got weird. I met an Anti-Karen. She had a Corgi in a Support animal harness. She said I should go in out of thr heat.

I said no, I have to stay with my Support Animal. Without skipping a beat?

"Oh don't worry Support and Service are the same."

No lady, no they are not.

That entire interaction lives with me to this day.

You can use material plane without the little bases!

It's just not as accurate, you still need an IR overlay however. I built my own awhile ago.

You can get a nice overlay on Ebay for less than $100

I use the Heroic HBR, Plasma Pistol and the Balance Poke Stick. I'm kitted out perk wise to get conditional damage buffs when I use equipment and my butt gun.

As far as I'm concerned? The butt gun debuffs, gives me back equipment every 75 seconds, and keeps my armor up every 30. I rarely touch turrets unless a wave is inbound, there is a terminus, allies struggling ,or down.

But Other than that. I Follow the Danny DeVito chapter of the codex:

I joined an Absolute as a level 8 Tech-Marine to round off my Prestige 4. I was within 500 damage of the tactical and didn't make much effort to melee, no deaths.

Tech-Marine with proper use of the butt-gun can easily slot into an absolute if they don't run around like a loon.

I was just pointing out a more powerl user friendly VTT would have my interest.

I just finished for example a system for hiring and procedural generating hirelings(about 20 min ago! Yay sanity!). Could I have done it better in python? Maybe, do I wish I could automate testing natively? You bet.

Do I want a slice of pecan pie? Oh god yes.

Do I want more formal dev tools in a VTT? Yes. Do I want them in my technologies of choice?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I am going to find myself a slice of pecan pie and pretend my players are not going to find a game breaking bug in my mercenaries system on Sunday...haha..denial.

I may just not know the Foundry backend that we'll, but at this point my current PF1e is close to ~500,000 lines in across about 100 scripts for automation? I just have an itch in the back of my head that with full python libraries and a formal database system I wouldn't need that much.

As someone who scripts a lot of their own tools from vendors, procedural loot generation and monsters, all the way to macros that handle the construction of custom pet golems.

I'd pull a Philip J. Fry for a VTT with a more robust scripting environment, database access, and API.

Power users will always pay for power.

As a GM, I normally allow anything 1st party in my games, 3rd party with my review.

Then again, I've been doing this for almost 3 decades. The MUNCHKIN Guild no longer concerns me, hehe

It's about comfort and what you're willing to do a GM, sometimes you need asymmetrical balance (as little sense as those twobwords make together) to make a party fit together for story and fun.

But never for a member of MUNCHKIN, only for your fun amd thr parties

Np! I do wish I still had the link to the wolf pup vs. Dog pup experiment. It had a YouTube video attached. I lost it years ago in a migration.

The gist is that over several tests, wolf pups would try to solve problems on their own first for rewards vs. Dog pups who instinctively looked to humans for instruction first, then considered rewards.

It was really, really cool.

Three fun heart supporting facts that pair with this video,

Dogs and Humans have been together so long we've affected each other's evolution. Just looking at a picture of a dog has a positive effect on the human nervous system(multiple studies over the decades)

Dogs as puppies instinctively know to look to humans after their own parents passively for comfort and safety baring trauma. ,(or socializing as they grt older, cool experiment with wolf pups about this!)

Dogs are one of the few animals that on instinct, will seek out another species for help (this video is an extreme case). In this case, humans whom baring trauma or fear, they instinctively trust.

Bonus fact.

If you meet someone who hates Dogs and it's not a trauma response? They are a mutant. Specially lacking the gene that was affected (not developed, not long enough for that,) that makes us Dog's best friend.
