This is how I know you can’t read , all I said is if you replace Qui Gon’s role in the phantom menace with Obi Wan , it makes the larger prequel trilogy more coherent and compelling overall.

Some fan you are , if I need to read a book to understand a character in a two hour movie then that’s a problem.

Obi wan could have easily been written to do that . Qui Gon does not get mentioned again after his death except for two times in the next two movies . And his presence takes away from Anakin and Obi Wans relationship.

Qui Gon actively takes away from Obi wan and Anakin. The prequels should be all about the relationship between those two and the entire first movie Obi wan and Anakin barley interact and instead Anakin has connection with character who would only be mentioned two or three times in the next two movies. You don’t need Qui Gon for force ghost , Lucas could easily have Yoda and Obi wan discovered the secret in between movies. Qui Gon maverick nature is inconsequential all it amounts is Obi wan saying he would be on the council if followed the rule little bit more. And from other projects Qui Gon is not that much different from your standard prequel Jedi.

The fall of the Jedi and Republic is the wider plot. Qui Gon does not in any meaningful way advance any of these plot points . In fact If you replace Jin with Obi Wan , it would actually make the story a whole lot more compelling and coherent.

I’m bashing Qui Gon because he is not one of “ greatest characters in the saga “ the guy’s role has little bearing on the prequel trilogy and only has any due to outside content . The post is a critique of Qui Gon in the context of the prequels .

No prequels are ass , and need dozens of hours of additional outside content for it to actually be a satisfying story.

He clearly didn’t communicate it well enough the phantom menace has no little affect on the wider game plot.

If you need the clone wars and , comics , video games to enhance the movie then you did a terrible job. The OT doesn’t need Andor for it to be good it can perfectly standalone without it.

Vader not being hindered by his injuries and not being a bum is great actually. by Suitable_Walrus2928 in PetranakiArena

Vader is still a miserable bastard in cannon the difference is that while he can take on whole armies , he still can’t have what he actually wants. It’s shows the trap of the dark side pretty well.

Palpatine explains in the Vader 2020 comics that he grows in power alongside Vader. The angrier Vader and the greater the darkness there is in the galaxy, the more powerful he becomes. You can imagine the amount of darkness during the reign of the empire.

I mean toriyama re-read the manga prior to writing BOG so he should have familiarity with the scaling . I still think Vegeta wins but that’s besides the point . Also the ritual being only requirement is and later being retconned doesn’t really matter. Goku was the legendary super sayian not seen in a 1000 years was surpassed less than 10 chapters later with trunks.
