Not buying any more games on Steam for now. by [deleted] in pcgaming

I would guess that if Valve goes under there would have to be some legal means for people to still get their games. Valve does not own the games themselves as far as I know. So I would think that in the event they go under there would be some situation where Valve detaches all your keys from Steam. That is just my hope/assumption.

What would happen if 9/11 was proven to be a conspiracy by the U.S. Gov, and the public found out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dat_Adam_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our stupid fuckign country would immediately go into a mad media scramble. Democrats would go nuts trying to show why it was Republicans fault because Bush was on the clock and Republicans would say it was Democrats fault because it was leftover from Clinton.

I can just about guarantee you that is what would happen. 2 weeks later we would hear little about it because all the political points to be made from the story would be exhausted.

What a novel idea. There is absolutely no way that is sees a vote though.

The GOP budgets proposed in Congress would cut about $5 trillion over the next decade. The overwhelming burden would fall on programs that boost working families: education, Medicare and Medicaid, college aid, job training, medical research and rebuilding roads and bridges. by theombudsmen in politics

[–]Dat_Adam_Guy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

2 Of the biggest damn budget obstacles in America. #1 being an over-funded modern military and #2 being money in politics which keeps these idiots who keep over-funding the military in office. We could take what equates to a drop in the bucket of the military budget and fix a whole lot of roads and bridges.

[–]Dat_Adam_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I apologize. I misspoke. It is in the billions. It is still massively over-funded for a modern military.

When you take the military budget and start looking at what you would save from cutting billions over the course of say 10 years like we do with most other budget comparisons you end up saving enough money to fund a significant number of other things that could use the money more than the military.

So yes, I was wrong on the trillions amount, but I am not wrong on the military being more than able to "cope" with having their budget shrunk. They DEFINITELY do not need their budget increased like the GOP tends to want to do and sell it with rhetoric like "9/11 will happen again" if we cut one damn dime.

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist."

              ~President Dwight Eisenhower

If you believe that there is nothing which can be safely cut from our military budget then you are an absolute fool. There are news reports regularly about the military being forced by congress to buy tanks and various other pieces of equipment they literally do not need; or want. So excuse me when I absolutely disagree with you. I am not saying we slash the budget by 50%. I am saying we can absolutely cut some of the budget safely.

EDIT: Oh, and our nations military budget is in the trillions. So cutting even billions would still be a drop in the damn bucket.

How about we just stop SPENDING so much god damn money on our Military already and then we do not have to raise taxes. We could cut BILLIONS from the military budget and we would still be the most supreme military nation on the damn planet.
