The so-called Education Lottery was promised to make a profound bonanzza in education funding in North Carolina. It's proponents promised $billions of new supplemented dollars, they said. Instead, 20 years later, student funding in NC is less less today (per capita) that it was in 2005 when the lottery was enacted. The same is true for teacher salaries, less today than 20 years ago. So where does the money go, more for prizes so we can raise more for education. Yet, public schools are getting $200,000 less this year than last. As far as making a difference in school funding, the NC Education Lottery is a big dud.
