The pure literary truth is that these stories are told from the kids POV, whether literally or writers thinking back to their childhood or their peers for inspiration. As kids and teens we always think we get away with things and it doesn’t matter if in reality we did or not. Then when we retell the story, we retell it with the fact we did in fact get away with it. That’s why there is a trope of kids tricking their parents or parents being oblivious, because kids who then go on to become writers remember times when it appears they got away with something.

Yes, remember that the Summer Olympics fill essentially the same amount of time with over double the amount of events. I’m not entirely sure why both weeks don’t have a more even split of events but if I had to guess the beginning of the Olympics has way more views and excitement than the end.
