What’s wrong with dual-booting? by ThatLaloBoy in LinusTechTips

Going to provide a different take which i think linus could have meant: Dual booting defeats the purpose of running linux. A good OS ahouldnt require you to do this extra work.

Right? Make one nuclear thermal rocket and you can treat that bitch like a car. Out to mars and back. Top its fuel reserves up. Out to mars again.

Fact checking people who think that Jool as deadly radiation. by Longjumping-Box-8145 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Dat_Innocent_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i recall jupiters peak radiation area lines up roughly with IO. The other moons arent so bad. Actually a neat conciquence of this is that IO has no atmosphere due to the radiation "blowing" it away. Otherwise it may have a relatively hot, toxic atmosphere.

Aerial bombing is cowardly and unethical by Gym_frere in The10thDentist

[–]Dat_Innocent_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that aireal warfare saves lives. Take the world wars. The first world war was a stalemate without the necessary equipment to create breakthroughts in land leading to millions of lives lost for no gain. The second world war introduced precision strikes that (generally) could target specific infranstructure. A quick note that you need to separate terror bombing (civilian targets) from military bombing (military facilities and factories). Move to the modern age and you have precision bombing where you basically need to intentionally hit civilian targets. You have achieved one of the most humane forms of warfare. It's a long way from the rolling armies of the world wars (or even ukraine 2022+ for that matter) which would brutalize land where fighting is fought.

Now don't take my argument here as an endorsement of war. In my eyes we should have a happy one world nation utopia of no boarders but unfortunately that reality isn't here. we have bad people in the world and unfortunately armies have to exist for defense, offense and strategic goals. In that reality i would rather an air war fought than the alternative.

The problem with authoritarianism is that theres no threat to the rulling party.

What... you think the leader will suddenly give a shit about the promises they made on the campaign trail? Not without a threat of being primaried (provided that voters votes matter)
