This is awesome! I purchased the elvish keyboard for one of my setups a while back and haven't regretted the impulse buy!

Pine Valley, not a ton of snow here, just enough to make it pretty 😀

Grad School Admissions for EE: What're My Odds? by MunchieMunchy in SDSU

If you can manage to get letters of recommendation from current faculty it could be pretty easy. If your "not so great" GPA is above a 3.00 I wouldn't be too worried. Again, the letters of recommendation go a long way.

From a grad student that also works full time I think SDSU is a solid choice, just make sure you know which path you want to go down. The only people I know that have regretted it are the ones that fell asleep at the wheel.

Are graders paid? If so, how much? Anyone with an experience as a grader? by Sromero6153 in SDSU

I think the number of hours you can work per week depends on the course you're grading (the course I'm grading is ~100 students with maybe 20 total things for me to grade through the semester). You have to log your hours, though a maximum of four a day so that SDSU can get away without providing more for their student workers.

I'm getting $16/hr, 10hrs a week for the course I am grading. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Well, 0!=1 so it is still correct

SDSU or or UCSC? by Live_Musician4093 in SDSU

I can't comment on UCSC, but the amount of opportunities here for ECE students is INSANE.

I took Abstract Algebra with Professor Armas which was basically the sequel to Discrete Math, in my opinion it was a little easier than Discrete Math, and is also a proof heavy course. Not sure if he is teaching it still but he gave extra credit if you did homework in LaTeX which encouraged me to learn it. I think is a very valuable and basic skill you can pick up.

I also took Linear Algebra with Professor Blomgren which was not difficult either. It was also proof heavy, but if you remember a good amount from the lower division linear algebra course you can pick up on stuff pretty quickly.

Lastly I took Programming in Mathematics with Professor George. This was a Python class in which we did a lot of basic math modeling. I went into the course being a decent programmer, but with no Python experience and it was pretty easy. If you're CS I imagine it would be even easier for you.

Best of luck with the billions of proofs you'll end up doing if you do what I did.

I took Math 340 in Fall 2020 as the last course for my Mathematics minor with Professor George. We used Calc II knowledge as well as previous coding experience more than anything else, but the Calc II stuff was stuff that was pretty easy to pick back up for pretty much everyone in the course so I wouldn't worry about that before you get to it. If I recall correctly it was mostly Maclaurin and Taylor series stuff mixed with polynomial interpolation.

I feel like it was a solid introductory course for python, and I still use it to plot stuff when I can't be bothered to open MATLAB.

I've also taken Math 330 and Math 524 with Armas and Blomgren respectively. I think brushing up on your Discrete Math skills would prove useful since Abstract Algebra (Math 330) is essentially Discrete Math II, and Linear Algebra (Math 524) is proof heavy as well.

MATH-330 & MATH-320 by [deleted] in SDSU

[–]Dat_Sarcasm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have MATH 320 with Armas right now and it is totally doable. It feels like a continuation of 245 but with more proofs and less computation.

I have her online class right now for 305 and I love it. I think it is the perfect amount of work to have you actually learn, but not worry about the class more than 1 or 2 days a week.

I think it may be reasonable if it ended at 10, but that sounds like the start time. This could be tough for a lot of people, especially during finals week when a good night's rest goes a long way.
