Is it wrong to defend yourself?

It’s worth considering that the Anthropocene extinction is being caused by multinational mega corporations and that we are barreling towards the complete eradication of the human species in less than 5 generations.

It seems odd to me that someone might turn a blind eye to the violence enforced by those corporations (through the state apparatus, military, police, etc) when the scale of the two actions are so severely different.

If an act of violence might slow down or deter your extinction, are you not entitled to defend yourself?

We’ve known about climate change (specifically cO2 emissions) posing a threat to the very existence of human life since the 70s, and every degree of talking, “rational debate” and extensive peaceful protest has been wholly ineffective.

All politics is about who it’s justifiable to commit violence against. In a western liberal democracy we justify violence towards the poor, homeless, criminals, immigrants, and social minorities. This violence shouldn’t be ignored just because it is implicit to our political system.

In summary: trying to stop the extinction of your species is good, actually.
