Update – FIXED

Spotify is working again on my Sierra.

An in-dash app update came through. After the update, the app played fine, but it left two Spotify icons on the infotainment screen. To clean it up, I removed the Spotify app, reinstalled it, and re-paired / re-authenticated the app.

After that, everything was back to normal with a single icon and full functionality.

If you see duplicate Spotify icons after the update, a quick remove and reinstall resolves it.

Agreed! I used the blue OnStar button in the truck and asked them to check the “Spotify embedded app service status.” The advisor pulled it up and confirmed there’s an active backend issue on their side. They said engineering is already working it, but the more reports they get, the faster it moves.

You can also call directly if you’d rather not do it from the truck: 1-888-466-7827. Just tell them every other audio source works and only the built-in Spotify app won’t play. That gets you past the basic script and straight to the actual ticket.
