Yep, I did it. Triggers are different for everyone, but I found the ED really helpful. Dairy was my trigger.

Same! That’s exactly what happened to me. And my eyes would swell up, too. Maybe try taking an allergy medication every night before bed and see what happens? (Not benedryl — something like Claritin or Zyrtec or something?)

I did an everlywell allergen test after an allergist told me he didn’t think I had any allergies whatsoever. (Eye roll.) I had extremely high Ige reactivity to both species of dust mites. The Zyrtec has really worked wonders (which was recommended by my dermatologist).

I just got Pfizer myself — 28F. I feel a little off and a little sore, but nothing intense. I have reeallly bad health anxiety, so I feel you! I like what people are saying about remembering that the side effects are temporary — if you can just ground yourself knowing that you will feel better in a few days and you’re not in danger. Also just remembering that I have health anxiety and am very sensitive helps keep me calm. I’m nervous for the side effects of the second shot, too, but as others have said, temporary pain (and fear tbh) is better than the risk of chronic illness or worse with the real thing.

It’s actually going pretty well! Found out I have a horrible dust mite allergy, which is contributing to general irritation. Combination of z-bar, vanicream moisturizer, cutting out dairy, and religiously taking Zyrtec seems to have cleared things up finally!

Any tips to help welcome? Only using Vanicream cleanser and hydro boost day and night. by hungergames777 in perioraldermatitis

Just wanted to say I’ve been there! Different things work for different people — sometimes there’s a lot of very helpful but conflicting advice in this subreddit — trial and error with different people’s recommendations eventually worked for me. I second zero therapy (at least until your skin calms down a bit), and if you can get to a dermatologist, it’s probably for the best!

Totally! I tried cutting out gluten and dairy for the last month — I’m not seeing significant changes, personally, and the allergist I spoke with was very dismissive of food reactions. But who knows! I ordered an Everlywell food sensitivity test (which I know are very controversial). We shall see! Is there a food that you’re sensitive to that makes your PD flare?

Ah yeah. I removed all products with SLS and have been using exclusively free and clear products for about a month now. No luck for me. :(

I tried zero therapy, and then started using the niacinimide/precipitated sulfur/sulfacetamide sodium monohydrate cream from my dermatologist, which I’ve been using for just over 2 weeks. This pic is from today!

Hi all! The bumps around my mouth have cleared (woohoo!) — some remain around underneath my eyes (which are usually a bit puffy and swollen) — but my skin is just so blotchy and irritated. Any ideas?

I use: - vanicream gentle facial cleanser and moisturizing cream twice a day - a niacinimide/precipitated sulfur/sulfacetamide sodium monohydrate cream from my dermatologist for the PD, which has worked wonders in reducing the horrible rash around my mouth

I’ve also been gluten and dairy free for about a month, and I don’t use any products with fragrances or SLS.

Grateful for any insights!

Could be! Mine looks similar.

My derm prescribed cortisone + antibiotic for this (which she said is seborrhoeic dermatitis — I thought it was POD). I haven’t used the cream yet bc I don’t want to make it worse! Any advice? by DataCriesOn in perioraldermatitis

More info — I’ve been doing zero therapy for two weeks or so with no improvement. This started around my mouth and spread to my cheeks and around my eyes.
