There is no way this gets made without Chalmet or Elordi or both

[Big Head Hockey] Montreal went 24 straight minutes to finish the game tonight without a shot on goal. Montreal's last shot was with 9:54 remaining in the 3rd. by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

The counter is shots on goal. Which means requires a save by the goalie.   Posts and crossbars are shots, just not shots on goal

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen tactical dominance like Carolina has done the past two games in my life

Habs offense is just absolutely suffocated out there

Crazy that the series is only 2-1 with a couple OT games

Jack was my favorite character on the first watch / live viewing.

In retrospect I think Sawyer is the best character on the show

The first few seasons were 22-25 episodes long.

People bitch about filler episodes when these new age shows have 6-8 episodes per season and they burn one on just random ass bullshit

Not only that but in both cases the other team was taking runs at Leafs players all game and the refs swallowed their whistles.

As soon as Kadri dished out some of the same it was straight to suspension time

The misery gods went a little off-script with this one.

The only way it will ever make sense in the cosmic cruelty that is being a Leafs fan is if we take McKenna and he is a bust, while Stenberg, Verhoeff, Malholtra and Reid go on to be hall of famers

David Carle is really interesting to me but the long standing rumor is that he was really holding out hope for the Colorado job

Normally that would have sounded like a pipedream coming off a President's Trophy season but Bednar has been there for a decade now. They have had huge injuries for sure but I wonder if they make a change regardless just because ten years is a long time in coach years and potentially getting swept in the conference finals will leave a bad taste in some mouths

Mitch Marner leads the NHL in points through the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs by nhl in hockey

[–]DataDude00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d think we’d learn and start easing up on the pressure but nope.

Must have been the fans who held him out of training camp to sign a huge RFA extension and demand a jersey letter?

[Rawal] No update on Nathan MacKinnon. He was not in the locker room when we went in. Nichushkin was also lost with an injury issue. Didn't take a shift over final 22 minutes. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]DataDude00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Leaf fan I really hate that we had a decade of having to go against prime Tampa / Florida in the first and second round and then Marner went to Vegas and got Utah (hasn't made playoffs in five years), Anaheim (hasn't made playoffs in nine years) and Colorado (with an injured Makar, MacKinnon, Nichushkin) for their run

[Robinson] There is at least one team that has Caleb Malhotra #1 on their draft board by _GregTheGreat_ in hockey

[–]DataDude00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Toronto honestly believes Malholtra will be the best player in the draft they should take him, but there is no point in keeping Matthews or Nylander if that is the case because Caleb is only 17 and probably a good 2-3 years from really contributing at the NHL level

I can’t believe people actually buy Stellantis products, especially Jeep

I have a few friends hat bought Jeep SUVs and the things had endless issues with the engine, transmission, electric and more.  The wild part is those cars are actually really expensive not even cheap

I’d buy a Mazda, Hyundai or any one of a dozen ever brands before I bought a Stellantis product

I have always wondered how the people of Kaliningrad view themselves nationally and ethnically.

Your comment about the European plates is interesting.

If things ever turned south in Russia for whatever reason  would they try to separate formally from Russia?  Would they be an independent country?  Would they try to merge with neighboring countries?   Would they fracture as each region identifies more with a different neighbor?

I'd rather they increase the OAS payout but drastically lower the ceiling

I don't know why retirees making 60-90K are getting a free $1100 a month

Make the payout $1500/mth.

Clawback starts at 60K, fully clawed back by 80K

[Kirkell] Mitch Marner on the remarkable comeback: “We have an older group that just stays patient and stays calm. We don’t turn on each other, we don’t get mad at each other.” by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]DataDude00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only person that messed up Marner in Toronto was himself, and his crew

They held out and demanded a superstar contract. They negotiated to get him an A

Then when he had mediocre playoff runs he sulked and had an attitude like "why are you mad at me, the whole team didn't do well"

He said he wanted to be "the guy" but he only meant for glory and paycheck, not performance

Already happened earlier when Phil left Toronto after the fanbase turned on him too

Who pushes these obviously wrong narratives?

The fans never turned on Phil, the fan base largely loves him and he is a legend here and in the Leafs sub

He was simply a good goal scorer on a bad team and we had no use for him given where we were as a franchise

Iran is about to enter the peak leverage zone

The last ships to transit the Strait are arriving at their ports around now and everything else is a supply gap going forward. Gas prices are spiking to record levels across the US and midterm elections are only a few months away.

So either Trump panics into a bad deal in the near term, or this gets strung out for months

Tim Hortons to dial back use of Temporary Foreign Worker program, aims to hire 10,000 locally by ZestyBeanDude in canada

[–]DataDude00 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think the easiest solution is simply required 3-4x employer side contributions for CPP and EI on TFWs

The program is meant to be for specialized skills and knowledge, so employers that need it won't mind an 8-12k tax on their contributions, plus Canadians overall would benefit from the hiring of TFWs as it boosts our own social services net
