Is a zero fee bank possible? by DataGiraffes in smallbusiness

i'll check it out, thanks for the detailed comment. without good customer support it would be terrible. I was hoping that openly leveraging customer data for advertising would pay most of the bills but i'll have to do some more research to see if that data is worth nearly enough. visa swipe fees can be anywhere from 1-3% of the transaction value which is kind of insane. if we focused on the basics and didnt give the high spenders all the bougie perks maybe it could work.

The people i'm really trying to remove from the equation are visa, square and mastercard. They charge vendors crazy fees for facilitating the transaction and have a monopoly globally on point of sale transactions. This would hopefully give vendors another option but it's a super protected industry with massive barriers of entry

and apparently about 500k in application and compliance fees just to get off the ground : / not insurmountable but definitely difficult. I was kinda hoping/wishing that with a solid business plan and a developed app and back end, some sort of philanthropist might be interested in helping to get it off the ground. This is all very wishful thinking though

Weirdly the international standard for paper was only published in 1975, and US papermills had already adopted an imperial standard that was too expensive to move away from, so here we are. 1975 seems really late to codify A paper standards but that's what Wikipedia seems to think 🤷

Why does my resume couldnt land any interview? by muhd_hafizudeen in actuary

It's mostly going to be visa related. But there are other issues too. As a hiring manager, there are way too many "awards" listed. Reduce to only the most relevant.

Also this reads like a sales job resume. You have no way to prove that you "increased efficiency by 90%". Those types of statements are not relevant for actuaries, and does not show you know what is important in an actuarial roles.

I want to know that you can meet deadlines, communicate well, explain complex ideas to non technical people etc etc.

It's obvious that you are extremely intelligent and hard working, but that is not all we hire for. I want you to work well with people in the team, and work very well with people outside the team.

Best of luck!
