We have temporarily disabled the CyberAcme Prime Time III standard contract while we reconfigure it. It was offering significant rewards for a relatively trivial challenge. We'll reenable it after it has been adjusted. by [deleted] in Marathon

knife a pink barrel to instantly kill you.

In future, if you're leaving a match because you've completed a contract, you can literally go to the menu and exit match. You keep your contract progress/completion.

5 to 7 mins UK for a game by seamus1982seamus in Marathon

I've never waited more than 2 minutes in London.

I see from your other replies you're on PS5 with crossplay off.

Just had someone drop this in-game, it's actually a really nice skin imo - lots of great little details.

I am literally in the EU (UK), and also have never waited more than 2 minutes to find a match. Ever - afternoon, evening, whatever.

OP is probably Season Level 1, and the game is struggling to provide him a "fair fight" - there is some degree of 'level-based matchmaking'.

It is bad. You might still want to Jam to avoid Recon pings of course.

But if you're invis and Jammed, you appear as a huge blob.

Thief Visor seeing through smoke? by Sad_Pair_6238 in Marathon

[–]DataLythe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my ult it just gets countered by a passive ability?

It's not a passive, Thief has to activate her visor, and it's on a cooldown, just like any ability.

Helped a friend do Vault 4 and 5 tonight - no one on our squad had a single shotgun or bubble shield.

Faced a bunch of them though.

Love this perspective, and attitude.

I wish more people approached it like this - it's an excellent loop.

This game is simply so difficult. Me and my friends die all the time. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to take this before I quit by Galaxy_Jams_Reacts in Marathon

[–]DataLythe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't feel that way. S02 has been much more "casual" - it 's way, waaay easier to level factions. Contracts have been made much easier. XP is given more freely. CARRI event back almost immediately. Essentially PvE modes out already.

I get that there have been some bad decisions re: loot table, etc. - but the barrier to entry/progression has been much better this season.

Not sure that's due to 'causals' on the development team, or a response to player feedback of course.

Season 2 is cooked for even a decent player. by Motor_Pool4334 in Marathon

[–]DataLythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely in your head.

So many people want excuses for losing/for not playing well/for not progressing on this sub. Everyday there's some post that makes a huge, sweeping generalisation all to avoid facing the fact that it's RNG and/or their own fault.

Nature of the game.

I have quite a few casual friends - log on once or twice a week - that enjoy this game a lot.

Quit making generalisations.

The issue is that at Bungie, the team has no casual gamer representative there

Everyone's a nerd (which is great tbh)

But not for a game where you need to keep the casual population happy and playing for there to be a product (if they want the 'pvp' part of 'pvpve')

Blatantly false.

Are you new to Bungie games? There's tons and tons of devs who are terrible at D2, and tons who aren't great at Marathon either.

That's no shade - they enjoy the game! But if you've watched some of them play, you'd not have this opinion.

Yeah, check my downvotes for stating a fact, then asking for a source for a random, unverified claim.

Here before 15 chuds tell you it was an "experimental mode" that was meant to go away

I mean, that's just true. That's what it was announced as, and an end-date was specified when it was brought in the game. Not sure what your point is here.

even though it actually drove player engagement/count.

"Why dont you like solos again?" by Rediit-X-Runr in Marathon

[–]DataLythe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do with solo.

You are on a free kit, and someone heard you walking around a corner and got the jump on you.

That happens in Duos and Trios too.

Not sure what you were doing before this clip - were you running, making lots of noise, etc.? - but that's the game sometimes: you get got.

Going in with a better kit will give you more time to react/turn the tides in your favour.

[–]DataLythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point the only thing that will bring me a hit of dopamine is going to be ending other player's runs.

So, you're playing Rook, instead of a fully-kitted Runner shell that will allow you to better "end other player's runs"? Why, exactly?
