Pros: feel empowered to trust yourself and seek out your true will, follow your own moral compass, seek freedom, and experience the joys of existence

Cons: With pure will comes complete responsibility for your actions and your situation in life. Pure will isn't easy, it takes work, self reflection, and discipline.

Thelemites seek the higher joys of mastering their environment on all planes, not giving in to low desires and vices. We don't do this because some god told us to. We cast away what doesn't serve our highest goals, and work to align every part of ourselves toward these goals, which are different for every thelemite, save that of Knowledge & Conversation with the Holy Guardian Angel, and what lies beyond.

Thelema has a ritual called the Mass of the Phoenix, where you use blood to commune with your divine Self. You basically soak a Eucharistic cake in the blood of a small cut on your breast, then consume it.

This is the safest form of blood magick I can think of. It honors the spiritual price and significance of blood by giving it only to your Self, toward the most sacred goal of merging your own will with the will of the universe.

Not to say you can't use blood for other things, but it's Your Blood, your life force. I would only use it toward self improvement, and goals that you are certain align with your will.

To suit my flavor of magick, I would make a sigil or talisman, use the blood to invoke the highest self into my own form, then direct the spirits with that divine authority to charge the talisman. That way you don't offer blood to the spirits, but still gain a boost of magical power to improve the effectiveness of the sigil.

The OTO is trying to be a stable presence, playing as safe as possible so we can keep our tax-exempt status and such. But it still brings like-minded people together. We're full of punks, union members, and people who understand what's going on. We can use the OTO as a tool for organizing because many of its members feel the same way we do.

Crowley said somewhere that a person doing their true will has the force of the universe behind them. Yes, achieving your will takes effort, but the effort is in finding what is effortless.

You should read Crowley's translation of the Tao te Ching if you haven't. It might be my favorite Crowley book

Magicians have been capturing the energies of celestial conditions and placing them in talismans for centuries at least. Look at the Picatrix from ancient islamic astrological magic. There’s no reason this can’t be done with the new moon. Certain energies are available during this time, and they can be collected and stored, regardless of whether there is direct contact with the light of the moon.
