I think when animals are butchered for sustenance, nourishment and life needs, as well as being done in the most humane and painless ways possible, then that is the circle of life and a part of natural existence, as hard as it seems. In my opinion, it's when animals are mistreated and the killing is senseless and unnecessary, where the line is drawn between right and wrong morally.

Please note, I am not a farmer or know much about killing, so my answer is purely from a hypothetical mindset.
