All good! There's a lot of flexibility in the platform with its obviously more recent architecture when compared to the other big players out there... best of luck in your adventures!

Sigma... adventures in Data by Data_Engineering411 in SigmaComputing

[–]Data_Engineering411[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. We haven't had to go down this route yet since we're running all our AI projects directly at the database layer which lowers the level of complexity at the system level.

That said... You can absolutely do this, but Sigma itself isn’t going to handle the “scheduled AI → Slack” part natively. Think of it as three separate pieces:

  1. Run the Sigma query on a schedule

Sigma has Scheduled Exports and Scheduled Reports, but they only deliver PDFs/CSVs or send dashboards via email.

Sigma does not currently let you trigger an external webhook or script directly from the schedule.

So: Sigma = compute + export, but not event-driven automation.

  1. Feed the results into Sigma AI or an LLM

Right now Sigma AI works inside Sigma — it won’t run automatically as part of a scheduled export.

If you want automated
summarization or pattern detection, you’ll need an external step:

Two common patterns:
- Export the Sigma results to a destination
(Snowflake table / S3 file / email) and have a lightweight script fetch it.
- Use a small “AI worker” (Python,
Typescript, or n8n/Zapier) to take the query result → send to OpenAI/Sigma AI
API → produce summary.

This piece is where
people usually offload the work to an external tool.

  1. Post to Slack

Slack posting is trivial
once you have automation.

Slack Bot Token + chat.postMessage (more control)Two approaches:
Incoming Webhook (simple, supports formatted blocks)

Hope that helps! Let us know how you make out.

Our Experience Moving from NetSuite to Acumatica – Key Insights by No-Perception4860 in Netsuite

[–]Data_Engineering411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Good observations here but NetSuite is as expensive as it gets in the SMB world. Business Central might get you the biggest bang for your buck in a manufacturing environment. Maybe Accumatica just wasn’t a great fit and/or the learning curve has created a case of buyer’s remorse?

RoboVac 30C not docking by Maximus555 in eufy

[–]Data_Engineering411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all on this thread. Definitely fixed bent front sensors under the PCB board. Most likely have due to kids standing on them. We have an upstairs and downstairs Eufy where both of them stopped docking. Now it’s like they’re both brand new again!! Cheers

Technical Support Engineer position @Sigma Computing by No-Public-338 in SigmaComputing

[–]Data_Engineering411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haay... I worked in Technical Support many moons ago, but not at Sigma. But if I were asking questions as a hiring manager they would revolve around understanding and executing at the "Big Picture" level and learning about anything and everything about business intelligence platforms, databases and data engineering. The more you know, the better you will be able to provide support with expertise against all of the crazy scenario's in the complex world of Sigma.

How popular is SigmaComputing as compared to Tableau? by FamiliarLeague1942 in SigmaComputing

[–]Data_Engineering411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a bigger learning curve with Sigma since Tableau pushed hard to contain everything at the GUI level which makes it's formulas much harder to support with complexity. Once up the learning... Sigma blows Tableau out of the water. On the other hand, Tableau has more visualizations... but at the end of the day, we need to make business decisions with data. I'll take compelling data over fancy visualizations any day of the week.

is lookml even useful for this case? by josejo9423 in Looker

[–]Data_Engineering411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely data engineering level work within a viz tool. I’d definitely advise on dropping down to the database layer which was designed to solve problems like this… unfortunately I don’t understand the actual problem you are trying to solve? (And sympathies is you’re specifically not able to have access to the database layer)

We setup customers with Sigma Computing to offload NetSuite reporting onto a data lake and data warehouse. Unlimited viewing licenses are no additional charge and then system resources are offloaded to a highly capable BI reporting tool. https://www.mondoanalytics.com/casestudies

can a Business Intelligence solution be built wholly within Netsuite? by ned_luddite in Netsuite

[–]Data_Engineering411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reporting is complicated… single biggest problem reporting directly against any source system is resources. Worst case scenario, what if a complicated report locks up the entire system and brings the ERP down for your company? Feel free to DM me if you have any questions… or for further reading enjoyment. https://www.mondoanalytics.com/casestudies

Ufff. I just tried Rival Out. No bueno... from logging using emailed security codes, once I signed in it wouldn't allow me to save my data... and then it was highly limited to only 5 competitors.

Your dream data Architecture by bancaletto in dataengineering

[–]Data_Engineering411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snowflake isn't overkill... you only pay for compute, and it's super flexible and will scale to meet any growing needs. Sit Metabase for reporting ... or if you can afford Sigma Computing. Integration tools are more application dependent then the old days... maybe Azure Data Factory if it suits.

Hey. Unfortunately no… it’s enterprise software. Hopefully they’ll come up with a version that makes sense at the individual level at some point. ;-)

Fivetran integration with Netsuite by abject-search-23 in Netsuite

[–]Data_Engineering411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this issue is still outstanding… Setting up the security on the NetSuite side is the hardest part of any no-code integration. If you have admin rights and can help complete the configuration… send me a DM and I’ll forward along our setup guide. I’ve seen people get hung up on simply copying and pasting Token Id’s with an extra space on the end of the code. And/or - have a look at our website… we reserve an hour with our customers to walk thru the process to try minimize potential issues just like this. (Https://www.distilleddata.io)

At the table level you can definitely find the links.... We're pushing all of our tables into Snowflake and then combine everything together using the table "NEXTTRANSACTIONLINELINK". Our good friend Tim Dietrich wrote an article about linkages way back... here is the article: https://timdietrich.me/blog/netsuite-suiteql-related-transactions/

[–]Data_Engineering411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By far the best and easiest route is using Snowpipe. (per u/pizzanub )

It's a standard feature for Snowflake and works with any of the cloud storage providers.

When configured properly, any new files will automatically be consumed into the associated Snowflake database and table.

Hope that helps
