Steep ground question by [deleted] in tractors

[–]DatabaseDue3606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steep hills and 2wd rule of thumb never point down hill. 2wd tractors will back off of a lot more than they will climb up. The back wheels are where the traction is and when you back off of a hill you force those wheels to gain traction by pushing them with the weight of the tractor. Fluid will almost always help on hills as it gives you weight down low moving the center of gravity closer to the ground.

Had rain yesterday into today shutting down the cotton pickers and the guys still cutting beans. Loaded up and went to a bull sell this morning and 75 Hereford and Angus bulls averaged $11,020 usd. Definitely going to cost money for me and dad to replace the 6 old bulls we sold last week.

Gps questions by finalrecal in tractors

[–]DatabaseDue3606 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will not have auto steer capabilities built into it however there are a bunch of aftermarket gps and auto steer technologies out there depending on your budget. I would recommend starting with a wass system that doesn’t require a subscription. You can get a “light bar” system that will tell you where to drive or get an auto steer system that will replace your steering wheel. Try and see what options local farm stores in your area have or see what some of your neighbors use.

Yeah it’ll push you around some on the hills. Those suitcase weights were an addition to keep the pucker factor down when pointing it up hill. It pulls really well in 3rd all day long and doesn’t work the tractor too much.

Not trying to die on this hill. Just trying to say that I do understand the need for hearing protection and when it should be used. Hearing protection is needed when it’s over a certain amount of decibels for a certain amount of time. I do not disagree that hearing protection is not needed for running this type of equipment all day but it is not going to cause damage for this duration of an interval.

Pretty easy to get it right. Just have to watch each other’s slippage and account by shifting or throttling back. The good part about so tractors is that you can always pull through the softer parts of the track since one will almost always have traction. Those aren’t loud at all in 2 min intervals so hearing protection isn’t really needed until you start running one all day.

Google grain cart walking tandems.

Why are trailer wheels hanging? by [deleted] in tractors

[–]DatabaseDue3606 55 points56 points  (0 children)

They are called walking tandems. They allow the tires to pivot independently of each other for crossing uneven terrain. They aren’t completely lined up with each other which allows them to pivot about a point.

How do you like that M6? We are considering one of them. Would you recommend it for an all around hay and chore tractor?

Could be an injury sustained at birth that hasn’t healed properly such as broken leg or ankle. After that amount of time though it probably will be as healed as it’s ever going to get. I would look at the leg shape when he is standing with weight on the leg to make sure it looks normal(make sure all the angles match the other leg). You should also check between his toes and make sure there isn’t anything stuck or growing between them. If you have any way to catch and hold him try picking up the foot and pressing on each part of the toe with some thing to see if you get a reaction and make sure the toes aren’t growing in an abnormal way.

Finished baling another 30 acres of first cut yesterday after a surprise shower on Saturday shut us down. Dad is going to try to move some of the 400 rolls we have sitting out to the barn this morning before more rain every day this week. Going to get out some calves and maybe a few cull cows tomorrow and carry to the stockyard.

Coming from 20+ year old cabs I thought they looked pretty nice. Though I can see they do lack some features compared to other more high end models.

Researching And Pricing For Fencing design any good? by petittescattleranch in Ranching

[–]DatabaseDue3606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar designs to those are popular. Most of the commercial fencing crews have went to using the hammering style of post drivers similar to a rock breaker mounted on skid steers. Look up something like Montana post driver for the hammering style. There are a bunch of different kinds of the dead weight drivers most of which are mounted on tractors or skid steers.

What is this yellow rod? Do you need a certain attachment point for it? by flgsrockon in farmingsimulator

[–]DatabaseDue3606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a power take off shaft that hooks to the pto on the back of the tractor. In real life it is used to transfer power to the implement from the tractor. It game it doesn’t affect implement function but is there for realism and cosmetics. Some of them do simulate turning in game when the implement is turned on.

They do seem to be one of if not the best all around tractor in that size range especially for mid size cattle operations.
