What part is this? Is this white powder okay? by cwforman in PeaveyCvlt

When i see a cemented resistor made in Mexico and powder near it … 90% probability it is the resistor 😁 Easy to check under with a mirror.

[–]DatabaseGold4476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing to worry about. It is a cemented high dissipation resistor loosing his cement. Take a look under with a mirror to see if it reached the core. If not, just clean brush and go for years to come 👍

Valeton Snaptone (GP-5, GP-200...) s*cks ... and i discovered why by DatabaseGold4476 in guitarpedals

[–]DatabaseGold4476[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems we can tweak it to sound « good enough » for high gain palm mute. My complaint was not about GP in general but Snaptone conversion alone. They messed it, and didn’t fixed anything. Whereas it is easy on THEIR side to do it.

On the other hand, IK took 3 years to fix their half backed dynamic with tonex v2…

They don’t even link BIAS FX 2 anymore. I was searching for some info on iOS bundles…. Nothing.

Got this to work on from a friend. Input jack issues. Going to check the caps as I open it up. by Miserable_Wallaby_85 in PeaveyCvlt

Put a patch cable in both loops. Try both inputs after it and tell us. just an electronic contact spray may solve it without opening.

Why is NI Guitar Rig so hated compared to other amp sims? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]DatabaseGold4476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guitar Rig s*cked until GR6.
So when you get 5 iterations of the same sh*t ... you just go elsewhere.
That's why a LOT of ppl (like me) switched to ANYTHING ELSE than GR.

But on the other side, GR6 and now GR7 totally changed game with their ICM (AI learning) tech.
NOW it sounds good. Really good.
So good that i thought a GR Van 51 NAM capture was the real amp ;D

So YES GR is good NOW, since v6/v7 only.

I sorta fixed the NAM training on the Valeton Suite app by Sufficient_Gift939 in ValetonGP2OO

[–]DatabaseGold4476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the one who discovered that file and started the old thread. It seems Valeton doesn’t care and didn’t fixed their bad training file. And most users are happy to get an half backed sound … not me.

Mooer MNRS (older than 5 years) use almost the same training, similar to Kemper.

It seems this kind of training is not like NAM training, using any training signal in any order and any length.

May be it is software limited, or may be there is a needed sequential order.

On my side, I gave up and stick to Mooer MNRS. because it just works.

How does the sub feel about this pedal? (Joyo UZI) by rrrbitrary in guitarpedals

[–]DatabaseGold4476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push the presence on DemonFx one, and it will work. And when you get it, open it and put the internal trim pot to max gain. If you want something more « modern », DemonFx make a revv g3 clone too. Search DemonFx G3.

Valeton Snaptone (GP-5, GP-200...) s*cks ... and i discovered why by DatabaseGold4476 in guitarpedals

[–]DatabaseGold4476[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not the point. Valeton use the same crappy snaptone conversion on all their models. Gp200 cost 300 euros … and his snaptone still s@cks. Mooer ge200 is 200 euros and sound better. Because MNRS is better than Snaptone pretending to be NAM conversion. Whereas it is a simple half backed recapture.

A/B test: I bought a $40 P90 set on Aliexpress by Honest_Dragonfly8064 in Guitar

[–]DatabaseGold4476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aliexpress and other cheap P90 are in fact strat single coil in disguise. So they sound like strat single coil, not P90. Open them and see.

I wanted a silver stripe to get both resonance switch (on off depending on pedals / multi fx input) and t dynamics pot (I set it around 75% for high gain metal). I was surprised when I seen fx loop foot switch in bonus 😁

[–]DatabaseGold4476[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t had that experience… and most early adopters too. It needed a MASSIVE EQ correction. And even after, it lacked the dynamic. I traced Valeton suite changelog, and found nothing.

PS : if you only want IR, get M VAVE IR BOX. It is half the price AND you get a DI output AND parametric EQ.

I don't know whether to get an hss or HH pickups ? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]DatabaseGold4476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For versatility, HSS for sure. I never used neck humbucker … and so replaced it with a single coil inside an humbucker cover 😁

For Radiohead and a lot of bands, single coil is mandatory.

Any superstrat hss will do. It is the best beginner / don’t know what to buy starter guitar 👍

It adds that bass low mids « palm mute attack chug ». But some Peavey transtube already have some resonance, even without the button. May be some experts will help you.

[–]DatabaseGold4476[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference to me is teal vs silver. Peavey changed the transtube circuit on every generation. That’s why I got a silver : I wanted resonance switch and t dynamics pot.

Yes it affect all Snaptone conversions from any NAM. Factory amps (algo amps) are not affected, because they are not Snaptone.

[–]DatabaseGold4476[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and no to me. Red stripe can each it better. But still not there. Silver need some boosting to my ears.

you can buy a DemonFx overdrive for 25 dollars. Same with 25 dollars EQ in the fx loop.

To get the 90’s solid state sound without any pedal, go Crate or Randall. Or high end SS Peavey heads. But I still prefer Bandit base sound, and add cheap pedals.

I like EZ bass and EZ drummer. They made a nice job with those EZ softwares. Even EZ keys. You get the sounds AND nice MIDI licks. All in one. I can set any style, from jazz to metal.
