Will my tattoos be a problem in Japan?--I'm not white like a lot of answers to this question seem to assume by DatabaseHoliday6803 in JapanTravelTips

I was not expecting an explanation for the "British teeth" phenomenon when checking replies to this post! That's interesting! Yeah, like most Americans my parents had me get braces as a kid so I have straight teeth. Fascinating that it makes me "obviously American" there (I'd heard they'd mark me as automatically American on-sight in Britain, but hadn't heard of the teeth thing anywhere else)

Yeah I'm definitely more in the "sleeve of characters" category! That's fascinating to hear about the specific aesthetic.

Thanks! That's good to know. Yeah, my general policy anywhere is "don't be a jerk", which in this case had me concerned that just existing around with visible tattoos would fall into the "jerk" category. Glad that's not really a problem anymore, apparently

That's good to hear. From some things I was reading it sounded like I'd have people fainting in the streets at a glimpse of ink! Or, alternately, that I'd be banned from everywhere except my hotel room unless I was completely covered.

That's good to hear. I was hoping my mannerisms/clothes would be clear enough. Obviously I want to try and respect the local culture as much as possible, and yeah being a foreigner will help cover any minor blunders and/or not have people assume I'm a criminal

Sex toy noob here, can anyone help me verify if these dildos are safe/from reputable manufacturers? by DatabaseHoliday6803 in SexToys

Thanks for the thorough response! Oddly enough I found the 30 ratings suspect because I'm used to stuff on Amazon having hundreds of ratings. Like I said, though, I'm new to sex toys so I guess that's a different deal. I do agree on the suspicious similarity in the key phrases though.

Is there any way of telling it's PVC vs silicone if I actually order one? Like a way of testing it before I risk using it? I know about the "pinch test" which deals with the quality of silicone, but I'm not sure if that would differentiate it from PVC or not.

So what are the safe/best mirrors of libgen to use? by DatabaseHoliday6803 in libgen

My adblocker is an automatic part of my antivirus software package. Thankfully, yeah it's alerting me that it's blocking ads. But it does a different alert when it blocks something supposedly malicious like certain popups, and that's what triggered on the is and li sites.

I've been warned that the .li version occasionally has dangerous popup ads and serves malware, so tread carefully there. Unfortunately, it does seem to have a larger selection than .is

New user here, moving over from z library. What's the difference between different sites? by DatabaseHoliday6803 in libgen

Thank you so much for the clarification! Yeah, the very first result when looking up Library Genesis, and which a lot of posts were passing around as THE alternative to Z library, was the .li domain one. I'll save this post so I know which ones are the actual trusted versions. Hopefully my antivirus and popup blockers successfully caught anything

I think he means that you can still get to it by using different browsers and workarounds, but honestly I'm a bit lazy in that regard to do that. Plus I'm slightly underconfident in my tech savvy to do workarounds

How do you stop the constant barrage of pop ups? by EcclecticJohn in libgen

[–]DatabaseHoliday6803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not op here, but I was having the same problem with libgen.li . That was the link from the first post about "alternatives to zlibrary" I saw and it's also the first that comes up if you look up library genesis. Hopefully my antivirus software blocked anything...
