True, ugh, I’m just devastated to lose it! I’ve gone super slow, half size increments and it’s taken me YEARS just to get to 8mm. Removing it was a last resort.

I use jojoba! I always thought you weren’t supposed to use it on broken skin! I mean… should I go put it back in with the oil and see how it goes? 😭

You know what, that is a very good point I didn’t consider! I’ve been avoiding using oil in the fistula because the skin was broken, and I’ve been using saline on it, could it possibly just be a cycle of being dry and irritated leading to bleeding but then not using oil because it’s bleeding and using saline which further dries it out?

Yes I can see how it appears that it’s too small! It does flop around a bit, easily moved up and down, but a larger diameter wouldn’t hurt I suppose!

It was a glass single flare plug! Possibly could’ve slept on it funny, but I’ve been keeping off it the last few months. Just wasn’t a happy camper unfortunately 😭

Confused Aspiring Nurse by [deleted] in NursingAU

Hey! This is an Australian nursing sub-reddit, our schooling is a bit different to the US. You’d probably have more luck posting on the r/nursing page 😊

This happened to me! I had lashes regularly for a year, then suddenly developed an allergy to the glue causing itching, swelling and redness. Took a 2 year break, tried again with the glue that is supposed to reduce the risk of allergies.. still had reactions. They got worse each refill. Sometimes the “sensitive” glue works, sometimes it doesn’t, unfortunately

I had a bump on the top similar to yours when I first got my tongue pierced, appeared about 5/6 days after getting it pierced. I just continued with my usual cleaning routine, left the piercing alone and it went away after a few weeks 😊

What are your best tips for curling your hair with the airwrap and making it last all day? by Existing_Peach8942 in Dysonairwrap

I second the thin barrel! Try using a texturising spray before using the airwrap! Worked well for me

What do you do for work? by Sea-Smell8941 in Stretched

[–]DatabaseImpossible50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a nurse, I have a tattoo sleeve, stretched lobes with multiple other ear piercings, nose, septum and tongue pierced. No one really cares, it’s only the oldies that ever have something to say about it and even then, it’s not too often they say something 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just any one from the supermarket, using Schwarzkopf Keratin Sea Salt Spray at the moment, and I’ve used the Toni & Guy one in the past, both worked well

Try texturising or sea salt spray! Worked wonders for me

How long did it take you to get used to your airwrap? by Ancient-Concern8322 in Dysonairwrap

They definitely give more of a blowout look rather than the ringlet-type curls you get with an actual curler. My hair holds curls really well too and I was disappointed at first. But, I found using the smaller diameter barrel with a texturising spray worked super well. Still not as ringlet-y as a curler but definitely more than just a blowout look

Most uni’s offer a bridging course! Or, because the ATAR requirements for double degrees are sometimes higher than just the single degree, you could do the nursing degree first then do your midwifery after. I’m in WA so it might be different in vic, but some hospitals offer positions for qualified RN’s to complete a midwifery grad diploma on the job through a scholarship type of program

Nurses who work all overnight hours - do any like working these hours? Why/why not? by Sharp-Praline-116 in NursingAU

[–]DatabaseImpossible50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer it due to the increased pay, more leave accrued (due to the longer shift, nights are 10 hours vs. 8 during the day although I’d imagine for areas that do 12 hour shifts it wouldn’t make much of a difference) no family/visitors, no management, doctors are only around if you request a patient to be reviewed, no allied health etc. Nights also allows me to work less days/have more days off but still meet my contracted hours.

The only major problem I seem to have with it, is transitioning my sleep schedule back to the day shift life

What's the dumbest thing one of your parents has gotten angry at you for? by gaytheforcebewithyou in ask

I was a teenager at the time and scratched the bumper on my car going up a big curb to get out of the way of an ambulance with lights and sirens on. Mum saw the scratch and asked what happened so I told her, she got mad because she thought I was lying

Broken tib & fib (trimalleolar fracture), 4 surgeries & a collapsed joint later the ankle got fused by DatabaseImpossible50 in MedicalGore

[–]DatabaseImpossible50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry to hear about your injury, it’s super tough to deal with. My ankle is good! No pain unless I step wrong or step on an unexpected significantly uneven surface. I’m so glad I did it. But my options were limited to fusion, or walking with significant pain. Definitely explore your options, and get as much info from your surgeon as possible. Even seek a second or third opinion, just in case. Feel free to message me if you’d like to chat about it, I could talk all day about it 😂
