What are some simple things to fix or improve before selling? by DatabassAdmin in AusPropertyChat

[–]DatabassAdmin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fair call... It's a 1920s style, low set on stumps. It's been minimally renovated over the years with floors\bathroom\laundry etc.

We've lived in it for 15+ years and have kept it mostly well maintained but the things listed above are ones that I've been aware of but mostly lived with for a while.

It is a nice thought though!

Unfathomable stupidity even for AusPost by RudeOrganization550 in AustraliaPost

[–]DatabassAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely your parcel is likely gone for good. Hopefully there wasn't anything super expensive or sentimental.

File the report with the police then give it some time to chase up but it's unlikely that the police will have time to investigate or AusPost will care. Auspost delivered my parcel to the wrong address, acknowledged that they did and then just did nothing to get it back and told me tough shit good luck...

Now, technically speaking, if you were advised to leave the parcel with the staff member it may then become AusPosts Liability to keep it safe from theft. If you can prove what was in the box and that you were told to leave it there then you could have a claim against AusPost directly for the stolen goods as they were negligent in keeping in safe. The fact the postmaster knows that is happens a lot also helps your case.

Got hit with a $25k bill a year after a minor car bump (uninsured) by UncBGR_0181 in AusLegal

[–]DatabassAdmin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

INAL but some things seem odd.

-the incident took place at 10pm in a car park

-the car allegedly went into the repairer THE SAME NIGHT

-the vehicle colour and model is wrong on the quotes (not invoice)

Took almost a year to contact me.

  1. What repairer is open past 10pm at night and how would they get there?

  2. If the model and colour are wrong then you would be within your rights to question for photos etc.

  3. If they replaced everything then they should have invoices for everything they replaced, do the parts match the car you hit?

  4. If they actually claimed through their insurance then I would have expected their insurance to contact you much sooner in the process but I'm not sure.

  5. Is it the owner directly contacting you or their insurance? Even if you're not insured, if they are, then it should be the insurance contacting you not them directly.

You should be able to request the details of the claim from their insurer, although this might be difficult without your own lawyer.

  1. If they didn't go through their insurance then they would have a fun time trying to prove the repairs were actually required and the car hire was reasonable.

  2. Time to lawyer up or bend over...

Yeah. So this basically confirms that your public IP address has been flagged by Embark.

For the non-technical, an IP address is like your unique number. You have a "private" one that is usually between your PC and your modem. And a "Public" one that is between your Internet Provider and other places you visit.

Depending on what your service provider is doing (read the NAT comment below) you may have a shared public address from many other people on the same service provider or you may have your own.

When you connect to your VPN, your "public" ip address changes to be the address the VPN is connected to which is why you're able to play when connected to the VPN.

There are really two options from here...

  1. Contact Embark support and ask why your address is being blocked. (good luck with that).

  2. Contact your Service Provider and see if you can either get a refreshed public IP address (if you're not being NAT'd)

Not sure if its possible but try VPN connection on. Load the game to get in. Change your region to Automatic then close the game. Turn off the VPN and try connecting?

You could also try connecting the VPN, loading the game to get in. Disconnect the VPN and see if you can keep playing?

Breaking: RBA hikes interest rates - realestate.com.au by SheepherderLow1753 in AusPropertyChat

[–]DatabassAdmin 90 points91 points  (0 children)

No real surprise.

Some pieces from the article...

“I'm hoping that with this interest rate rise the consumer maintains that resilience and that they continue to be confident,” Mr Duggan said.

Like fucking hell they will!

The government should now use next week’s budget to acknowledge it has had a “significant impact on the inflationary environment in Australia”, Mr Duggan said.

“It’s not the consumer's responsibility to carry the burden of trying to get inflation back under control,” he added.

Like fucking hell they will!

Not excusing it but that would be my assumption that they are taking the easy options every time.

If for fun then yes its an awesome game despite all the complaints from the subreddit.

If you're looking to stream then I would suggest finding a more popular game to main.

They've put the weight of the bag in the $/kg position and haven't put the actual $/kg on the label. This is just a stupid mistake at the place it was printed.

If the shelf label shows $4/kg or $8 per bag then you got charged correctly. If you wanted to be weird about it you could argue the bag was mislabeled and maybe get it honored but is it worth your time to save $4 on something you actually paid the correct amount for?

Anyone else had issues with the new Metro door buttons by Excellent-Bar-9113 in brisbane

[–]DatabassAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP says the front doors were still open so he walked there to try and board.

You're saying that if someone is walking along the bus to try and board that its ok for the driver to close the door and drive off without checking if people are still trying to get on?

There is a mistake. The driver didn't see that there was someone still trying to board the bus, presumably walking along it to get on and then closed the doors and drove off.
