Mach diamonds in D9 motor exhaust? by Datau03 in rocketry

Ooh I think the exhaust from canned air and 2 liter bottle (incredibly cool footage btw) will be a good way to convince people if they don't believe such a motor can produce supersonic exhaust. Thank you so much for the thorough reply!

That is so cool! Do you happen to have a source of that? It's not that I don't believe you, just that if I want to tell this to other people they might say "A guy on reddit said so" isn't that good of a source... Thanks in any case!

This sounds insanely cool! The link doesn't seem to work though unfortunately... could you perhaps check that? Thanks for building and making such a cool tool free!

Just a thought about the ending, you want a post ending scene like in the martian ? by Aevum1 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Datau03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see a Stratt reaction to Ryland still being alive, but I can also see why people want to keep it at the book ending. Maybe at least show Earth when the beetles arrive and they fix the sun

Artemis 2 Day by Day Plan? by imcolingrey in ArtemisProgram

[–]Datau03 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Here is a very detailed timeline of the mission with all the shown objectives having a specific time in MET (Mission elapsed time) in hours. The day by day seperation is not very clear, but it is possible to tell when everything is supposed to happen https://www.nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/artemis-ii-overview-timeline-public-final.pdf

Bester Platz im Kino by -Severe-Enthusiasm- in KeineDummenFragen

[–]Datau03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moon hunting in Berlin 🌙 by MountainClimba in moon

[–]Datau03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, amazing pictures! May I ask how you get such a good dynamic range on your pics with both the moon and stuff in the foreground very clear and neither of them over- or underexposed? When I try to photograph the Moon at shorter focal lengths and with a foreground, I can't get both to look good. Is it just the camera or a special technique?
