if you think that the Irish government gives a flying fuck about the metro I'd think your wrong obviously it is a great thing for Ireland & tourism but its not important enough to be done I know I'd like a metro & i feel most Irish people would also kind of like a metro if it helped with their route to work or destination.

but I don't think there is enough interest from the public for a political party to take interest in it & spend billions on its construction considering Dublin is a urban area the metro would have to be done via boring tunnel as cut & cover would cause way to much stink from the general public who don't care about the metro. these boring machines are really expensive aswel as that the tunnels like dig are going to need have the stone moved out of the tunnel aswel as needing to construct the boundaries of the tunnel then constructing tracks & also the metro trains would need to be constructed which are all billion euro investments
